media types?
 

Hi which out of the following would be the best dvd-r media. Tdk(the new armour plated one) or pioneer dvd-r or the verbatims. They are about the same price. anyone have any opinions?

Out of those three, possibly the Verbs.

What exactly do you want them for - console/movie backup?

There are other (and cheaper) types of media aavailable that some people may say are better.

My current personal favourite is the Datasafe 'Yellow' DVD-R.

Verbatims work 100% on my ver.4 with messiah2 I tried Ritek and found them to be hit and miss, mostly miss.

Then you most likely had the "cheaper" Riteks, or a BAD batch.....

BG - what do you mean "cheaper" Ritek. Do you mean the G03 Riteks?

My Version 7 plays anything from Bulpaq DVDR to Pioneer DVDR.

If you dont mind paying for those Brands then go for them but you dont have to spend that much for good qualuty Compatible DVDR:)

Bulkpaq absolutely SUCK!!!!#

Firstly they will degrade over time meaning that at first the copy will seam fine but try it a moth or two lata and it will get worse and worse.

Secondly, try backing up GTA Vice City on one and see how well it runs......

Some others to try are, The getaway, Conflict Desert storm, Time Splitters 2, Max Payne.

If u can back all these up and they all load up as quick as the originals and they play perfectly I will eat a 25 cake of Bulkpaq dvd-r's.

Having said that they seam to be okay for movie back-ups but then again dvd movies hardly strech the laser to the limit do they.

Its just like mod chips....

There is ALOT of media out now that say "Ritek"......

Unfortunately, not all of them are the top quality ones.....

TRUE "G03" is great.......

I have only seen 2 people with some bad batches of genuine G03's.....

I haven't found a disc yet that works as good as Ritek..... (No matter what you use them for :) )

Nah, it just that when I first got into burning dvd's I was sucked in by the fact that bulkpaq seemed to back up and play games fine but they were simple stuff like tekken 4. Soon as u put anything complicated on them u get problems.

Besides, even if they don't back up ps2 games too good, they taste nice!!!! Certainly taste alot better than verbs!

BG - so should I get the G03 or G04 at rima.com?
