Why did I need the 1.0-1.3 patch for Raven Shield when I had 1.2 installed?
 

Hi all :)

When I tried to update my v 1.2 to 1.3 patch for Raven Shield it said that the core.dll file wasn't found but found one w/ the same name or something like that, and the patch didn't execute. And this was AFTER I put the original core.dll and .exe files back in (replaced the no-cd files from v 1.2).

For the heck of it, I d-loaded the 1.0 to 1.3 patch and ran it w/ the orignal files and it finally worked and installed properly.

What gives? All I had to do for new patches in the past was change the no-cd files to the orignals and change them to the newwer no-cd's after the patch installed...???

Although, one particular no-cd (can't remember for which version) actually was an exectuable that changed the core.dll I believe. Is this what caused my prob?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I bought the game brand new, so it's not a copy, etc if that helps at all...

there is also an 1.2->1.3 patch (smaller, 4mb) available. you need this.

I know. that is the first one I tried and it did not work. The only one that seemed to work was the 1.0 - 1.3. I don't understand why because I was already updated to 1.2 before and it was telling me I didn't have the right core file.

Maybe your backup files are from 1.0 as Core.dll, Ravenshield.exe and more on...;)
