The sims Unleashed
 

I have a bit of a problem i had to re-install windows when i'd got windows back i was unable to play the sims because it had said that i'd installed an earlier expansion after installing unleashed but i had installed everything in the correct order and to make things worse the second unleashed disk which i REALLY need to re-install it all is at my insane sisters house and it's going to cost me almost as much to replace the disk as it would to buy the game again so is there any way i can get it to work without having to install again

Contact EA and ask about replacing your disc. As long as you have some proof (a manual page probably), they WILL replace it. They might ask money for it, but it will be cheaper than buying the game again. Other than that I'm afraid there's nothing you can do. The sims in particular has so many potential problems when installing, that anything fancy is just hopeless. Incidentally, it's at your sister's house ? Can't you get it back ?

to replace the disks it's going to cost me $20au plus postage on a game i've already paid $45 au for if i buy the game again i have defeated the purpose of buying a legitimate version of the game in the first place which had a fair share of problems and it's a pain in the ass because the game is just sitting on my hard drive fully installed and i cant play it sorry for whining about it but it just annoys me how much they charge here for replacement disks

My sister would only try to kill me again thats the reason i can't get it back

You're out of options here if getting the CD back or getting EA to send a new one are unacceptable.

Believe me when I tell you that when it comes to the sims and all its expansion packs, you need perfect copies of them all to have ANY chance of getting them all install right. I don't have a safedisc 2 compatible writer, so I made backups of all original sims cds I have by making images with Alcohol120%, compressing those with winrar 3 and writing them on cdr's. My originals are somewhere safe, and if by a freak accident I lose those originals instead of the backup, the backup still contains perfect images. This is the whole idea of making backups : make them BEFORE you lose the original. I'm sorry we can't help you any further...

Ha! I had a similar problem as you, but with disc 1! My wife is such a Sims freak that after my dog got a hold of my Unleashed Disc 1 and broke it in half , she had me uninstall all of the Expansions and reinstall, minus Unleashed. She found out Sims Superstar was coming out, and wanted me to "get it back" which it was too late. You are lucky EA would let you replace it for $20, they have yet to answer my e-mail and I offered up the broken CD as proof. Make friends with your sister or cough up $20au...simple.

I have backups of all the expansions even unleashed but unleashed was the only one i had problems with backing up :( but the game is still installed on my hard drive the reason i had to re-install windows is because something went screwy with some registry files if i could somehow get the right info into the registry i think it might work again so if anyone has a clue on what i have to put in and where it would make me very appriecitive :)
