Multiple Games in 1 CD

Is there any way to do it? I know Demomenu and Dream Inducer don't work but how about the Generator menu or the ODCM menu. Might they work???

ukio 15-06-2003 13:02

i know DreamInducer needs a descrablambled 1st_read.bin (no wince) for the game/app to boot. and the DI's 1st_read.bin must be scrambed.
i coudn't use it with SegaGen, can anyone point me?
think how many small games woulld fit on one cd, like ikaruga, jojo, 18 wheeler...

Just today I read something over at DCEmulation where you could use the Planetweb Browser or the XDP to load applications but other than that I still don't know.

You can also use DreamOn for making multi game disk.

try your luck here.

there is the "homebrew" scene

It's possible with the Official Dreamcast Magazine loader and DreamOn. But I don't have the files for that so I can't test it out.

Sephirsin 19-06-2003 22:20

Where can I find DreamOn?

Also while looking at the PW Browser 2.6 I saw this in an HTML file:

<a href="x-avefront://---.dream/exec/4x4">

I'm guessing its to load 4x4 Evo demo but I don't know where to put the files. I'll try it as soon as I get some CD-rs.

spider0735 20-06-2003 13:36

this sounds rreally cool. how do you scramble the 1st_read.bin file?

cdwc 21-06-2003 22:53

Sounds really interesting.
I have some original DreamONs and a serial cable so i could rip them but i don't know anything about that Official Dreamcast Magazine loader. It's really needed? Or any link to download that thing?.

Sounds to me that DreamON has everything needed inside, even a SFD player for those that want to make a cd with some movies.

You should rip DreamOn and release it.
I'm currently working on using the Planetweb Browser to load the games. So far its worked only on Nester DC. When I try a Katana game it just reloads to the bios screen.

I'll let you know what else happens as I go through it.

cdwc 22-06-2003 13:06

I think there are some DreamONs released for a while. I don't know till what number (mines are vol2 & vol4).

Just a question, Didn't it came also with new ntsc dcs? It's strange but it did with all PAL dcs so there's many people that has one volume at least.

If not, i'll see what can i do ;)

Sephirsin, you should try loading scrambled and unscrambled binaries to see which work.

The Official Dreamcast Magazine loader was ripped from an American demo disc. I supposed DreamOn is the European equivalent. You only need one or the other. As far as I know it works with Katana & WinCE games, never heard anyone say if it works with homebrew stuff. Think of it as a Demomenu or Dream Inducer but for commercial Dreamcast games.

Now I want use this. I knew where to get it but that was way back in 2001 and they are long gone. If anyone has or know where I can get the files let me know.

Hacker999 29-06-2003 19:27

Any luck with this?

Sephirsin 01-07-2003 18:57

Ok, Nester DC does not load any rom. I've tried several other emulators and mp3 players but none load anything beyond their base menu. I also tried several homebrew games and some worked such as Echo's Quest, Brkout, and Tetris.

I unscrambled all of the homebrew stuff and modified the GINSU to load the applications.

I haven't tried out Katana games but I will this weekend. I'll let you know what happens.
