So, I might have already mentioned this in another thread, but...
Be aware that soldering to VIAs on the PS2 mainboard is tough. Why? Because Sony in their infinite wisdom have coated the board with a heat-resistant polymer! Take an exacto and carefully scrape the plastic film from over the VIA, and THEN try to solder to it... much easier now, isn't it? This is especially true on the BACK of the board. - Gurm |
I found that lots of liquid flux and a soldering iron at about 375 degrees applied removes the laquer enough to solder onto perfectly.

But y'know, the problem with that is that if you have the iron that hot, you can melt the board pretty easily too. :(
