Plextor 48/24/48 or 52/32/52

Does anybody know a good deal on either of these? Dabs do a very reasonable deal on a 48. It has to be in the UK though!

The 52 would be VERY nice if I could get it cheap - it is £100 at the moment and personally I can't afford that! Any suggestions would be great!

u have 52x cdrs and 32x cdrws?

lufcfan 27-05-2003 01:07

Yep. They are just starting to come onto the market now.

Seven O Two 27-05-2003 04:39

might as well go with the 48x and the 24x cdrw because the media is still to expensive, who uses cdrw's anyway and is there really difference between 48x and 52x???

save your money

eBuyer do the Plextor 52/52/32 for £92.88 inc VAT in either beige or black.

I personally wouldn't upgrade if I was you......

I have a 32X burner now and NEVER use that speed.....

I normally average 12-16X...... Never had a reason to burn any faster...... AND never had a coaster (except when I was trying weird $hiT like multiple games on one disc :) )

I actually do need to upgrade as my lamp is starting to go. I have written over 700 CD's in the last 4 years so it doesn't owe me anything. (Thanks Plextor :D). Anyway, I do allsorts with my writer and would utilise the 48 or 52x that it will write at. I think I am going to side with the 48 as it is dirt cheap froma place I know down in Brighouse. I'll order it tonight so I can pick it up easily and avoid the postage! :D. Anyway, I love Plextors and will never stray from them. I would have bought the 52x LiteON but it doesn't do everything that I need my Plextor to do. Plextor are the market leaders in my eyes as their drives are absolutely superb! I love them. So the 48 it is...

hyungsup 28-05-2003 08:41

If u buy 52X then it's not really stable at that speed eventhough u have good media
I have 16X and I get skips when I burn cds

bighap 28-05-2003 08:52

If you can not burn at max speed then you have some problems with your setup. You might have bad media, too slow a computer, the burner might not be in top shape, you might need to change some of your burners settings, etc. I always burn at max speed, 32x with my old burner and now 48x with my new one. Never had a bad burn.

lufcfan 30-05-2003 05:54

DONE!

I have just ordered my 48x about half an hour ago!

Jay_83 30-05-2003 11:53

Good choice,

Anyway fast speed burners never actually hit 48 or 52 speed until the end of the burn.

Its not a case of the burner having to speed up, simply it would be impossible to burn that speed around the inside rim of the disc (Too precise)

God i'm tired :(
