PS2 Reality Player question
 

I want to be able to play CD's containing AVI or MPEG files (NOT VCD's) in my PS2. I read that I need PS2 Reality Player and a mod chip. May question is: Which mod chip for this? There are so many out there and my main intrest is for playing these kinds of movie files... playing backup or burned games would be kewl too.....

I am leaning towards Messiah 2 or Magic 3, can anyone tell me why Messiah 2 is $30 more (canadian) and is it worth it??

Messiah 2 all the way. Magic 3 are CRAP and have some real trouble with some backups i.e.: they don't work. Go with Messiah 2 they are superb! The extra $$$ are well worth it!

So I will be able to play AVI or MPEG Cds too? I have the instructions about Reality Player so I want to try it for sure...

I think it is more for DIVX but I think you can. I may be wrong so see if you can search for some info. (Use the button at the top) There was some really interesting stuff on this just a little while back...

Thanks again, I will do another search... I did search for info before posting but I had trouble because it won't accept terms like AVI or PS2, etc......

I know - I'm going to complain to the mods about that - Terms like CD, DVD, PS2 (lol!) are all stuck. I tried to search for a model number (CRX-220A) and 'CRX' wouldn't be allowed! Certainly an improvement could be made!!!

So I have been searching for the last little bit with not much luck.

Can you tell me anything about playing movies in the PS2 that are avi or mpeg format burned onto a cdr? That is mainly what I want to do. I have a VCD player but I find tha quality too poor for my taste. Someone told me that I could play the actual avi or mpeg file if I modded my PS2...

It plays avi/divx. Don't think it will play mpeg.

YEP. You gotta have the modchip to get the player to work.

Yes, you need a mod to be able to boot the cd burned with the Reality Player.
