Probs with datasafe
 

I got some datasafe 2x blanks ( silver tops ) and neither Nero or Prassi will burn them at 2x, only 1x. Anyone else had this problem?

YES! They use Ritek dye. This is limited to 1x depending on which Re-Writer you have! If it is a Pioneer A04/104 then use the Official firmware downgrade patch from http://firmwares.co.uk from which ever version firmware you have to 1.31. I did it last night and my Traxdata work superbly. You can find out your firmware version by going into Prassi, Hilight your DVD-RW and click Disc Explorer and Drive Properties. Your firmware is listed here... Then just downgrade. Hope this helps...

P.S.: Try and get hold of RecordNow MAX as this is the newer version of Prassi. Get the download link directly at www.mjpaul.freeserve.co.uk and go to the Software page. Download it there...

Sorry all but it did'nt work, wife got the timing wrong. I think I've been sold some duds. Tried going to the web sites printed on the disk 4 help but they take u 2 some poxy google site that tells u sweet FA, I would of thought that a firm the size of Datasafe would have theire own site. Still looking for answers, thanks to everybody.

You have an A05 right? I don't know if an A05 will write Ritek Dyes at 2x as when they came out, the A04 wouldn't allow 2x writing. I don't think you can on an A05. That's what it is. If you had an A04, you could have flashed it with the 1.31 BIOS but as you don't, you may ruin your drive if you try. It looks like you're stuck! They aren't dodgy discs, it is simply the fact that the A05 has never let Riteks (You're datasafe disc manufacturers) go at 2x (and probably never will). Sorry about breaking that to you...

Download this firmware. It is a hacked 1.30. It allows for 2x writing for 1x and 2x discs. It also takes the rip speed limiter off your Pioneer, so now you can rip at 12x.

Tried the hacked fw said it was succesfull but still no joy. I followed the instructions to a "T" anything else I can try ?. Btw thanks 4 the help so far.
