that is not right.we can take as an example the safedisk protection that if you don't read in low speed you will get many read errors!

I think this can be debated some more. I've backed up all of my originals, most of which are either Safedisc 1 or 2, and I ALWAYS read the image at max speed. (32x on my Sony CRX160) and they all have worked fine. I've never had to slow down reading or writing for any protection I've ever encountered.
I understand some people say they have to slow down, though, so it may be dependent on the CD R media or the reader/recorder itself??

well,i have a ricoh mp7163a and when i read a safedisk 2 cd and and i don't slow down i get read errors!so i choose a 4x reading speed in order not to loose time with trying to find the exact speed for reading with my burner or cd-rom.

With plextor 24x.........harry potter...battle realms settlers 4 and diablo 2 (sfv2,bis,bis,securom) readed at max speed and burned at max speed.....no problem..just originals!

TIP: used various cd-roms like traxdata, tdk or hi space and cd-rw and no problems!
