CloneCD- what the!!!!!!!????
hi guys,
I'm having a problem on CLONECD. The problem is, it won't "Read to image file", "write from imagefile" and "copy cd" The games i want to backup are The sims hot date, AVP2 and Harry Potter, but either of them will do anything, The 2 buffer bars at the bottom are always on 0% and the progress bar is always on 0%. However, i can see the drives working (trying to do something!)I have used Clony to get the burning options to it, which are manualy. I have done Toca2 easily on it via clony without any probs. So why don't these games work?? -My cd writer is a LITE-ONE 24X10X40 Burnproof. -I'm running Windows XP home edition -I have the latest Clonecd and Clony -My cd burner and cd driver are both sharing the secondary ide port, while the hard drive is on its own on the primary ide port. I don't understand whats wrong!! is there something i have to enable or something, change the buffer size?... etc... ur help will be greatly apprechiated! Thanx FifaHeat |
hey try searching to find if your cd-r and cd-wr are compartible with the clone cd program!because your cd-r and cd-wr are connected to the same ide port you can't do the on fly copy so this options must not have a tick when you copy cd's,check it out cause it may be the problem,at least for the copying cds section!you should also try copying or creating a cd with another program just to see if your drivers work ok.chek if there is something broken or damaged in your drives by the system menu on the properties of my computer.if your driverswork with the other programs then it's possibly a support problem or a windows problem!well did you use the clone cd program with an older verion of windows and when you upgraded forgot to reinstall the program with the xp version?anyway your last chance is unistalling the program and then reinstalling it again!that's all i can think about your problem.
hope i helped |
Only want to qualify something........i have a toshiba dvd rom and plextor 24x in the same ide and i can burn on the fly and almost at 24x (can't burn at these speed from hd image!...xDDDDD)
For the other I agree with the last post ;) |
what i wanted to say with the on the fly copy problem when the two drivers are on the same ide port is that in that case the possibilities for a buffer underrun error are more than 80%!

Hi there , I have the exact problem , but I am using a Ricoh 7200 cdr-w to read and write , I just bought it to do some back up copies of FIFA 2001 , GP 500 and F1 2000 , among others , as my kids are hard on cd's , and I get the same symptom as described above , the cdr-w spins but no read data shows , stays on 1 % for up to 20 mins and then I quit. I have copied some earlier cd's with no problem but it seems the later ones are protected or something. I tried using Nero 5.05 that came with the drive , same result , and I tried with an old 32x cd rom on second IDE bus with same result too. I also had the two CD roms on the same bus and got an error message saying that data throuput is not suported with both on same bus , so I swapped them around . Any help would be most appreciated but its good to see others have the same problem as me, thanks.

Hi there , thanks for that , but on advice from a friend I turned the read speed down to 8x and it read the trouble cd's in 10 minutes , while at max speed it read 1 % in 20 minutes !!! Anyway it worked , but these games are a year old , so there may be more problems with newer games but I will tackle them when I get to them , cheers , Peter.

for one more time it is prooved that reading at low speeds is better than reading fast and having trouble like these!

I am having trouble copying Hot Date too. I can tell you this. I have the latest versions of clone cd and clony. I set it to the settings on clony and it goes real slow for it must be forever, then it goes faster. But my disk still never work. They get to the red sqare screen and hang. After about 5 minutes of that it says please insert correct cd rom and restart application. I admit I need to upgrade my burner. I write from 56x cd rom to a 8x4x32 rewriter. But I did notice one thing. On the Hot Date if you look at the settings in Clony it says it is overburned. The size on the disk is 658mbs. the size on a normal 650mbs disk is 657mbs. So are they using a 700mb disk or a 650mb and overburning? I have tried it both ways. Have made about 30 frisbees at least. That's why I figured I see what everyone else is doing to overcome this situation. Don't know if my info was of any help, but sure could use some other suggestions myself if anyone has any. Besides upgrading my writer. Have one on layaway now. But even it is only a 16x24x36. Any ideas? |

@TLk
What burner do you have? If it's a 8speed, it sounds like it isn't capable of doing safedisc2...in which case you'll keep burning coasters. It isn't your software, but your hardware that is at fault. @Fifaheat Do you have fast error skip ticked in read? Are you backing up an original or another cdr copy? Make sure your cd is clean and free of scratches. Certainly a slightly knackered cd will be difficult to read, the higher the speed. |
