Have a minor problem?
 

I was following a tutorial in XBox scene and was installing an extra fan under the hard drive well I kinda frigged up I was using some solder and a bit dripped onto the power point for the fan and now there is no power to the main fans power point, I did reconnect the fan to the power supply of the cpu fan all works but are there fuses that can be changed or is it just grounding out from the solder I am getting a solder pump to remove the excess solder today.

I am lucky enough that everything works just not that particular power point. Just curious how or if there are fuses in the XBox

I don't think there are any changeable fuses in the Box since it's not built to ever be serviced.

I hope your CPU fan is maintaining enough RPM's to keep cool since your are drawing from its power. Sounds like you got lucky this time but I would be a bit more careful throwing solder around a circuit board. ;)

Just for insurance I like to put a piece of cardboard over boards if I have to solder on them and just leave a hole around where I'm actually soldering. It helps give you a safe place to steady your hand without bending, breaking, or shocking delicate parts and its even saved me when I dropped my hot solder iron on it while messing with the cord.

Well I do keep an occasional eye on the temp. with the evox and it seems to be steady and ok. The one thing I did notice well I think is that the main fan is now faster is than it was. I am not sure as I ususally had a cd in before so never really noticed.

Yes I did get lucky and am happy that things are ok!~! Would there be more juice going to the cpu fan? they are both 12v so I wouldn't think so

You should have used wire taps and used the HDD wires.

I haven't looked at that particular wiring but I would think the amperage has to suffer if you are adding things that weren't designed to be there. (Voltage isn't the only measurement to be concerned about.)

The difference might be small enough where it doesn't matter but common sense is that you can't repeatedly split a wire and keep the same amount of electricity through it for everything connected. The fan speed could be showing an increase or decrease because of this.

I don't really see a need for more fans but if it's already installed and working I'd just go with it.
