Liteon 24/10/2B & new Securon protection
 

Hi guys......
I just got me a new liteon 24/10 usin the latest clone.
Tryin to backup AvP2..
Loaded cloney ,it gaveme the setting and said it' had the new Securon protection.......
Copied the disk........installed it ok but when you run the exe nothin...
got the fixed exe ,loaded it the game works fine.
The thing is I was told this drive would backup any disk without
the need for fixes...had no probs with safedisk 2 disks...
Can anybody help please......

For securom protected games it's imperative to tick do not repair subchannel data (it will not be ticked loading protCD),Try it!!!!

Also, securom2 checks for cdr media. Only a burner can return this info, so either run from a cdrom, or block that check by using clonecd's "hide cd media" option (or daemon tools).

And yes, you should have be reading the subchannel data during read, and not correcting it during write.

Liteon ltr24102b cannot make working copies of Securom2 protected games. I've tried.

alright first off is securom*new* considered securom v2?

because i finally got nwn to burn....what u need to do is use fantom cd...its wonderful..small and works great..then use the securom*new* setting, amazing i know, then read the image. and then write that image as securom*new

and wahla it works...i have a lite on 24102b and i was baning my head trying to find a solution and then i tried this...and wabam it works.

I've CloneCD 4.0.1.9 and I did a copy of Warcraft III with my liteon 24102B. Warcraft III has like protection the *new* securom and my backup works fine. You should only use the settings that ClonyXXL gives to you.

Clonyxxl V2.0.0.6 told me there was no protection, although I know there is.

Which firmware do you have on your liteons?
Also, are you reading with your liteons or with another drive?

I know your problem, I had the same too. In clony you can see the different settings for the different protection, I put like securom *new* and then I pass the settings directly to cloneCD and I did a copy on fly, therefore I read from my CD-ROM (LG 52X).
I don't know what version of firmware I have because now I'm at work, I can say to you only tomorrow.

ok the version is 5S5A and is the newest official firmware...


also some advice...no matter i did in clonecd i could not get it to burn avp2 or NWN i had to resort to another program..

i used Fanotm CD v1.21....

and as always i used the cdrw as the reader...

i hope this helps cause i know what a pain in the ass it is...

now there are even more frustrations though with nwn, the new patch renders my backup useless....

Well, let's be homest, they needed to do something as securom (even in guise no 2) was crap and outdated.

Interesting to see how buggy this new update will be, and how soon it's defeated.

i think it has already lasted too long!
