Ricoh DVD-RW Probs
I've got a pioneer 104, and this afternoon bought another dvd-rw, all they had was Ricoh and my drive wont recognise it.
It either sits there forever waiting on media, or it says illegal media. Thats using Nero (latest version paid upgrade) or Primo. Anyone else had any probs or got them to work? Any help appreciated b4 I try to get my refund. Ta Ron |
DVD-RW on PS2 is very iffy. Sometimes works sometimes doesn't. It's all to do with reflectivity and there's a Factoid on the question somewhere.

- or + R RW
Charlie,
I agree, I dont use dvd-rw on ps2. I usually use dvd-r, and have no probs. I use a dvd-rw for backing up certain data from my pc. I discovered my error, I had selected a dvd+rw, which wouldnt run in either of my drives. On returning it to the shop, they swaped it for a dvd-rw, and all is fine. Apparently the -rw or +rw is the format of your drive. I never new there was a difference. I'll assume one is for pc adaptations and the other is for set top players, .......... unless of course............ someone can advise otherwise........??????? Ron you live and learn |
Authoring discs are used for set top models. General -r/-rw/+r/+rw are used in computer burners. -r/-rw is used in a -r/-rw burner and +r/+rw in a +r/+rw burner. Pioneer is a -r/-rw burner. HP and TDK make +r/+rw burners. Sony burners can do both - and+.
