Dvd 9
Ok
what r we going to do if more games start to come out in dvd 9 format. I know a lot of DVD movies are DVD 9 now. Its turning out to be a black day unless a higher storage dvd comes out. WHat r we to do just buy another games if our orginal get messed up |
DVD9 will never be burnable other than on a double sided DVD-R. I believe that someone has copied DVD9 onto two disks but I don't remember if the transition to the second disk worked.
The best way of obtaining a backup of your original DVD9 game is to turn to China where they will have pressed copies of your originals for less than $10. |
Alternatively u will get DVD9 Rip Kits just like with Xenosaga, just give the crackers a bit of time.
And about 12 months before u will be able to get a Dual layer burner but will probably cost about £2500 ( just like the dvd-5 burners did originally!!). |

But how the heck can there be a Dual Layer Burner? You'd have to burn through a layer to burn the layer below! If you are thinking of a burner that comes from above for one layer and below for the other - nah - there would be reflectivity issues in the result made necessary by the need to burn (if you see what I mean). Dual layer pressed disks are two bonded physical surfaces that have been mechanically and separately pressed before being bonded. If I'm wrong, tell us the technology that you foresee in 12 months. |
No, I have reservations about this too, but have contact at sony UK that said they r being tried and tested in Jap at the mo.
Don't know how credible but some thing to do with different frequency/colour lasers for burning different layers. ( Metaphoric shrug) doesn't bother me, as long as u know where to get HK backups then there is no probs. ( and as long as u own the originals as well!!) |
Yeah they are coming out with someting called blue laser technology that is supposed to be capable of burning to 20 gb discs.

rip kit were
just wondering if any body here ever got there hands on that rip kit for xenosaga ever body talks about but dose not have
|
From what I have heard, someone correct me if I'm wrong. It was never publically released. Meaning that you will not find it. Only way to get your hands on one is to go to some one who does HK silvers.

I asked the same question on ps2newz with no luck:(

This doesn't do DVD9 in the same way. However, in theory it will put a DVD9 game onto a single side 20GB DVD-R using the smaller blue light wavelength. All you need then is a PS2 with a blue laser!! Told you it ain't gonna happen. |
I thought I saw the Xenosaga Kit on Newsgroups somewhere.... In fact I am almost sure I did
|
I didn't say I was gonna build one!
I simply stated that it is possible and being looked in to. I don't know how it would work but I would imagine that u would have two different dye layers rather than one and two different laser diodes on one laser for burning it, i don't know! The guy who told me about them doesn't usually tell bare faced lies to me and is pretty switched on about this stuff but I'll be sure to tell him that u think he's talking a load of sh*t. Regards |
Yeah, A blue laser for a PS2, how crazy, almost as crazy as an extra chip for a PS2, oh ,no, wait a minute...............
