messiah 2 probs
hi all,
wonder if anyone can help with my m8s ps2, hes just had a messiah 2 installed in his v7, seems to work fine ,boots really quick but randomly locks up on backups of vice city and tiger woods 2003. Its not the games coz i have tried them with no probs, the originals work fine and so do cdr backups. basically wot i need to know is - is it likely to be the chip(so i can return it) or some other problem. cheers for any feedback murdie:confused: |
Incorrect installation, or laser calibration. Those are my guesses. But it's a v7, so the laser OUGHT to be good. I'd say that the chip was installed wrong.
You've tried these backups in YOUR modded pS2 and they work, right? Hmm, that's a weird one. I'd say incorrect chip install, but usually then the CDR backups wouldn't work either... Hmm... COULD be a bad chip. - Gurm |
OK then..
The Messiah is probable the best chip for PS2. I think I try to get it, but where. If you know a good onlineshop, then post it.. Pls. |

cheers for the reply gurm, dunno wot the other guys on about, wrong thread i guess.
its a toughie i know , like u said surely the cdrs would crash as well if it was the chip. perhaps i will try a different media first, any idea wot v7's like best , the backups r on zero defex at the moment coz my v4 loves em. beyond that i guess im stumped. cheers murdie:confused: |
If you are looking for something at a good price go with Riteks from www.rima.com

Definitely a media or laser issue.
All the chip does is boot the game, not keep it running. I would have said a media issue as well but don't rule out laser problems. Have just installed a messiah 2 into a v5 ps2 and it wouldn't run ps2 cdr because of laser. version 5 to 7 r meant to have superior lasers but that don't mean they r indestructable. As advised, go for ritek, dont bother with other brands that use ritek dye cos they ain't as good and some tend to degrade over time. what starts off as a perfect back-up ends up not even boooting after a couple of months. U could also try running a dvd lens cleaner through the ps2 as it could just be a dusty lens ( stranger things have happened!) Hope u get it sorted! |
