Problems with my backups
 

I have chipped my ps2 and the chip is working perfect every time. Most of my backuped games will load past the playstation screen but they are frezzing at random parts of the games. The games seem to work in other ps2's but not mine, We have tried heaps of different DVD-R's from exspensive to cheap ones. I have even adjusted the gain on the laser but i can t get it any better. PLEASE help me I'm ready to throw the ***** thing in the rubbish. I'ts really bugging me. HELP

try cleaning your laser 1st if they work on others also your laser might be wearing out

U didn't mention what version ps2 u have.

Or, the chip might not be working as perfectly as you think. ;)

the chip is a magic 3 chip and yes it is genuine, I'm told by a few people that the chip is not that good, do you have any sugestions?

How did you confirm it is genuine? Even if it is they still have many problems. Magic has huge problems with most games that have full motion video that is even slightly on the long side, and also games like Grand Theft Auto that load on the fly. I would try to clean the laser, thats your best bet. Also did you mark the laser pots at where they were first set? If you turned them up to high while adjusting you can kill your laser quick.

well I don't care what i have to do, change the chip, change the model playstation i have. I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

yes I did mark the pots, I only made very slight adjustments so the laser should be ok, I have only ran it for approx half an hour after the adjustments.

Since money doesn't matter I would just get a Messiah 2. If you have a v4 machine I would get a new one. You say you have a 30002R. Do you have 2 screws in the upper rim of the expansion bay or 3? If you have 2 you have a v4. If you have 3 you have a v5 or v6, which would be ok.

Its the v5 ,v6 so the messiah 2 will be the go? Do you know are the heaps more reliable then the magic 3. what about the magic 3.1 do you know what that is like? Does the Messiah 2 do direct boot, where can i get some info on it?

Magic 3 = terrible.
Magic 3.1 = a little bit less terrible, but still sucks.
Messiah 2 = king of mods. Direct boot, hastle free, problem free....get one
