PrimoDVD and RecordNow Max don't recognize my DVD burner
I've recently installed an HP DVD writer 300n in my hp pavilion XT983 and I've downloaded the appropriate programs to start making backups of my PS2 games.
The only problem is that neither PrimoDVD or RecordNow Max recognize my DVD writer. I installed the drive in the second bay underneath my CD writer, they are both on the same IDE cable and I set the DVD writer to slave since it is second in line. Could my install be the problem? Does it need its own IDE ribbon? The computer and other programs that came with the DVD writer all recognize the drive. Thanks |
Try setting your dvd burner to master. This fixes lots of problems including ones like yours.

Thanks!, that's kinda what I was thinking, but before I ripped my machine back open I wanted a second opinion. I'll try it out and see how it goes.
Thanks again |
;) Report back.

Well... no such luck. Its still defaulting to my CD writer and not even recognizing my DVD writer.
I've tried to update both burning programs but there doesn't seam to be alot of support for either one of them (hehe). Has anyone had any success with Nero? Nero recognizes my DVD writer just fine. p.s. I have other issues, please check out my other post in this forum. |

Thanks Bighap, I'm currently running version 3.0 (doh!). I've got about an hour to go on dowloading the update. Hopefully this will fix the problem. I'll keep you posted.
Thank you |
Damn 3.0? Your problems will be gone with 4.50.:) Ever thought of getting broadband?
|
hehe, very funny Bighap, actually I should be able to get it soon and right it off as a business expense. Hey, have you looked at my other post, its got me worried...

Yeah looking at it. Do you have AOL Instant Messenger so we can talk directly? I am online as FileForumsGod

Sorry but I'm on MSN messenger as arcane_hayter...

Ok hold on a few mins while I get it. I am sure as hell not going to wait for you to download AIM.:p

Just so everyone knows, I helped arcane resolve his problem by having him upgrade to RecordNow Max 4.50. Case closed.:)
