For now it's imposible to do a perfect safedisc v2 copy-protected game.To do it you should press the cds to avoid te atip code and for now all of us have cd-r BURNERS.The finest thing we can do is to copy safedisc v2 games and playing it on cd-roms not on cd-r.I hope this will be as today for long.......

Yes, its POSSIBLE to copy SD2 games now, even for non-SD2 compatible burners!!! even the new Civ3 will be copied!! read up on new version clonecd cos theres a catch to enabling SD2 copying!

I'm sorry but i'm still getting doubts about safedisc v2 protected games......The game could seems to be copied. To verify it's right-copied just install and execute FROM your cd recorder. If it works.....it's a fine copy...if not.....something happens....atip code ( as i know only new securom have this but thinking that sf will include it as soon as possible if it's not implemented yet)

i have a plextor 12/10/32a. if i upgrade to the latest version will it make perfect copies? i saw in the revision history that it wont work in the us and great britain is that true? and cheeky you said you need to enable ot somehow, how do you do that?

I've noticed that I can copy every CD I try with my old Smart&Friendly 4x2x24 CD-RW, using Nero version 5.5, but some of the new games will refuse to run and require a patched EXE to run from the burnt CD. Therefore it isn't a 1:1 copy.

Is it possible to make 1:1 copies? What does it depend on? The hardware or the software?

I see many people recommend CloneCD. In what aspects is it better than Nero?

It depends on both but more on the hardware. Get clonecd. check out whether your burner is compatible.

No doubt about CloneCD is the best way to burn copy-protected games but......when copies not only depends on software then pfof!
i say this because people think that a good cd recorder and clone is needed to do perfect backups.
I called perfect copies to those that installs and runs from every source(cd-r, dvd/cd-rom) not to that which installs from cd-r for example and runs only on the cd/dvd-rom.

The new copy-protected games include some references to the atip code (boried to repeat it...crispy should also know it better than i do).To ilustrate this think about the way your cd-r recognizes if a cd is writable blank, rewritable and so on.This comes written onto the cd from factory and this is not changeable.....neither cloneCD nor other software will change this. The CD comes as is and isn't the same pressed cds(originals) than burned ones. The only way you have to duplicate an new securom or sfv2 game is by pressing cds on special machines on special cds.By the way i don't know ways TODAY to bypass this.Only cracks seem to be useful......any coment is allowed..!

Cheers

the only games at the moment that uses the this type of prtection is the PSX this looks into the boot sector( atip ) of the disc to see if its an original ,at the moment I dont know of any pc game that does this so therefore all pc games are able to be copied onto a cdr without the need for patching. if you use the new clonecd then before your install it change your timezone and language in control panel to Canada(English) then clone will install and allow you to use the new Amplifyweak part of the prog therefore any full clone compatable writer Will be able to write a SD2 Protected disc !! IF IM WRONG LET ME KNOW!!

Morglum007 19-11-2001 07:14

Just try Diablo 2 Lord of destruction.Try to toast it and to RUN FROM cd-r(It will not work). It has new securom and as i know this protection implemented atip protection..i'm sure of this.....

PD: The sfv2 copyprotection hasn't sub channel by now but i have heard that c-dilla is thinking about introduce this on its safedisc protected games(i would like it were false)By now don't know if it's true or not but when you find a sfv2 game that doesn't run from cd-r..then think on this.

Heh.

So yeah, CloneCD has been recommended by many people. I actually went and downloaded it. Latest version.

Of course no download would be complete without a proper crack to gain full software functionality. So I went and got such a crack. CloneCD detected both my reader and my writer perfectly, things worked like a charm.

Then of course I wanted to try it out, so I decided to copy a CD. I just loaded up a russian version of UT, and it was actually read pretty fast.

Then the part of the actual burning arrived. And how surprising it was - it failed on the very first attempts, in a matter of 10 seconds.

Lucky me it failed so fast, before it even started to write, so I didn't get a coaster.

But I had to copy the CD, so I went to good old Nero, and my surprise was even greater when it produced a perfect copy.

This story taught me the same lesson again: not to believe anyone. Nero all the way! CloneCD, Easy CD Creator, CDRWin, they are all told to have their advantages, people recommend them, and maybe in some small insignificant aspects they are better than Nero, but overall, Nero isn't only the best, it's the best by far. Really really far. With all the functionality, simplicity, compatibility and ability.

I probably sound like I've been paid by Ahead to advertise and promote Nero.
