which cdr media does everyone use?

Anyone swear by a certain cdr brand for ps2 backups? I've been mostly using Princo or Pioneer cds, but have had been advised to switch to the gold Mitsui brand. Any comments?

Cheers

Andrew

I use TDK. Have also heard good things about Sony.

The ps2 isn't too picky when it comes to cdr media. Basically anything will do, but it is best to stick with name brands such as TDK, Verbatim, etc.

I would stick away from memorex though. They work for most but have seen some problems.

MEdia

I have used Imation for about 5 months now. Not only are they cheaper but I have yet to have a bad burn. They also make DVD +/- R media. Although I have found Princo, Ritek, and sony DVD media to be better as far as price.

I am using MMORE they work great but only at 1x. Ritek has been tried and works fine.

As bighap said any seem to be okay these days. As manufacturing processes have improved and got cheaper cdr media has got better.

I use datasafe and they work 100%. I also use a spindle of 100 cheap unbranded cdr media and they also work 100% so the choice is yrs.

A quote from Sky News -

"Umm Qasr is a city similar to Southampton," UK defence minister

Geoff Hoon said in The Commons yesterday.

"He's either never been to Southampton, or he's never been to

Umm Qasr" says a British Squaddie patrolling Umm Qasr.

Another soldier added:

"There's no beer, no prostitutes and people are shooting at us.

It's much more like Portsmouth."

I use TDK & Verbatum exclusively. The only thing ive noticed is that the laser seems to stress when reading cdr copies. Ive tried burning at different speeds but it is always the same result

I use Verbatim's here, and Sony's over at my dads. I have yet to notice any difference between them, only that Verbatims are $0.33 a disc cheaper. I can get 100 Verbatim's for $7.00. Best Buy always puts them on sale here.

I use TDK, get them cheap at Costco.

GEneric media

I use GENERIC type media, anything free on rebates; Pny, Imitation, CC, At&T, Tdk, Maxell, Memorex.

Never had a problem with backups @ 24x write speed.

anyone here ever heard of taiyo yuden?? they are good. Verbatim are also good but only the datalifeplus type. the best however are verbatim metal azo. they are now being sold again as verbatim vinly cdrs:D

MegaPyro6 31-03-2003 17:53

Yes, I'm completely serious. Its is $7, well after the rebates and everything. Its a $35 mail in rebate from $42. When this happens I usually try to stock up a little, maybe sell a couple sets on ebay. I go through them like you wouldn't believe, maybe 1 bad disc out of the bunch.
