questions about xbox xtender

i just recently bought a used xbox that was premodded with the xtender chip

but one of the things I want to do, is upgrade the harddrive.. and the more I read.. this doesnt seem to be possible with the xtender... is this true?

also.. what about the ability to turn off the chip to play xbl games?

if Im not able to do these things.. I guess Ill end up pulling the xtender off and picking up a matrix..

shouldnt be any trouble removing the xtender.. should there?

after more reading.. I found where xboxinside says you can play online without disabling, because it doesnt send info to ms?

is this true?

Quote:

Does not submit information to Microsoft when the Xbox is online, online gaming has been verified with copies.

if so.. then I guess Im just back to figuring out how to get my larger harddrive to work in there

I don't know whats goin on at "xboxinside" but it sounds like caca poo poo to me. If you wanna believe them then just go ahead and connect to Live with your mod on but I wouldn't recommend it.

Doesn't send ifo to MS? uh, who do you think owns the Live servers that you connect to? where your account is stored?

you won't upgrade the hd with an xtender bios

yea.. reading back through it
it seems more like they are saying you are safe to go online
but doesnt mention xbl.. which of course wouldnt work

and i guess Ill be popping this chip out and picking up an x2 lite
although I dont have much luck with soldering.. so I guess Ill also have to get the pogo pins.. ugh

or maybe Ill just go with the matrix..

with the matrix, you make a software change to turn it off.. right?

and with the x2 lite, you have to solder in a switch.. right?

I believe its similar on both - you just have to move a jumper or solder a switch on
