Ftp Guide?

Im looking for help with the PC to XBOX FTP setup. Ive read all the stuff on the net and I have still not been able to connect to my Xbox. Is there a "idiot's guide" out there? Here is what I have:

Xbox with Matrix loaded and MEssiah chip, Evox onboard.

I tried using the FlashFTP method described on this board but I could not connect. Is there anyone who can send me a complete step by step guide so I can troubleshoot my problems?

Thanks

I don't understand whats in your Xbox - a messiah? or a matrix?

Shouldn't really matter - having Evox is necessary though

I'm not gonna write an idiots guide but if you list exactly what you did and the where the problems start I will gladly give you advice

Cable?

I did everything by the tutorial. I think my problem is with my cable. I bought a standard LAN cable and not a "crossover"cable. I am going to Circuit City right now to get a crossover cable. Ill see if that solves the problem. Thanks.

uhh yea
crossover is direct connection
straight is for connection through a hub
check out this to find out what to do with the crossover:

then an ftp client
connect
and have fun 8)

NO GOOD.

Well I bought the crossover cable and I still cant connect. I have everything set up as discussed in the tutorial. Is there supposed to be something listed under the EvoX settings under Network where it says Connection, IP, the first three lines? I have an IP listed further down in the settings. HEre is my config:

Win 98SE
FlashFXP ver 2.0
Cross Over Cable - Direct PC to XBOX (no router or hub)
ver 1 Xbox
Messiah Chip
EvoX loaded

Let me know if you have any tips.

Oh yeah all background proggies have been disabled (Zone Alarm, Nortons, etc)

Thanks!

IP ON CPU?

I am on a cable modem, I thought my comp had a static IP already. Is there a different way I need to set an IP on my PC ?

since you also have a cable modem, make sure in network connections for your cable modem that you have checked the option to allow sharing your connection, you also need your x-box connected to a television.

Maybe this guide. I tried to make the tutorial very easy for new people to understand. I hope it helps.

And your PC doesn't need a static IP, just evolutionX does.

ethernet's different than internet
if u have a stable internet thats fine
but u gotta change the IP for your ethernet, networking card in order for it to work

Quall999 22-03-2003 12:16

i didn't know that. I use a router and it auto assigned one, i assumed the cable modem did to. I guess not though.
