Shenmue 2 pal
here is how to back this up as it is a tad 2 big to fit on a dvd-r
what you need 2 do is downsample the .wav files located in these folders xab/xout/xhar. The program i used was cool edit pro 2.0 and downsampled them to 1600 Hz 8bit stereo this made the final size of the game from approx 4.88GB too 4.29GB. The only downside i have noticed so far is that it takes about 10-15 seconds longer to reach the main menu on boot. Ashley |
shame we cant over burn games.....but for now i think ill dump the game on the hd

ok i have cool edit pro installed, but cannot figureout how to downsample the wav's anychance of a basic and quick run through (i learn quicky)

Ok first load up cool edit pro then click on file then scroll down to batch file convert and you will be presented with a new window click add files and add all your wav's from the game next click resample which is located at the bottom of the new window. Now make sure that the box marked convert sample type is ticked and then click the button marked change destination format. That will open up a new window giving you all the different sample rates and so on then after you have selected the right sample rates you need click on destination and choose a location to save the new converted file's then click on run batch then you should see cool edit do its stuff. Then just copy and past your new wav's over the old ones while ignoring the .pk files cool edit has made.
Hope this helps you out. Ashley |

Yeh much appreciated tip m8!!!! Pat on the back for that one!
I did the same as you said but did it a much simpler way. Load up sound recorder (windows xp was the o/s i used) then point it to a recording in the files that you mentioned. Then open one of them Simply click file>Save as, and then you can change the recording rate on that screen to the same quailty you used. Great game, Great tip. All the tip is doing is downsampling the sound quality for the three sega arcade machines in the game. |
