Messiah2 >= Apple2 >= Magic3.1?
Well, my neighbor's brother ordered a Magic3.1, I have NO idea where from. It's probably a clone. I'll install it for him, but of course he'll need to use the GameShark for some games. *sigh*
My brother also wants a chip, and he's poor. I told him a Messiah2 is about $60 (give or take) and he balked. So here's my question... Apple2 is better than Magic3.1, yeah? I know there are probably one or two games here and there that might need "help", but overall it runs nearly everything right? And isn't bad on the laser like a Neo? - Gurm |
If your brother wants a good chip and is on a budget, get an Apple, not Apple2, the original Apple. You can get one for about $30.

man, tell him to quit crying,, and if he balks again give him a hot dog :D ,,, tell him to get the messiah 2 will save him some headaches, and that good quality has its price.... he will end up saving some bucks in the long run....

Well if he ordered a Magic 3.1 he might not have much problems at all...
I ordered one and I was worried at first. I did have problems with Devil May Cry 2. The movies would freeze... However it was an iso from the net. I then tried backing up the original game and it worked no problem :) Since then I haven't had problems with DVDs or CD-Rs on my PS2 V7+Magic 3.1 Even when the CD-Rs are burned at 12X they work awesome :) Also a game that is said to have problems with Magic chips is GTA: Vice City and it works perfect for me as well. I did pay for professional install... so maybe that is one of the main problems many people have. Could also be the version of the PS2 perhaps. Oh yeah I did heard also about people having problems with princo DVD-Rs. Untill now not one Princo DVD-R has failed to work for me. I bought some no name. White tops, dark blue bottoms. I bought them as Princo on Ebay. They are 1x. |

Can you boot DVD-9 games? All reports say that you can't boot DVD-9's (even originals) except maybe one time in 10. - Gurm |
TheMasterRat was having booting problems with Xenosaga and his Apple. He figured out a solution by holding reset longer. You can read the thread here I have yet to get my hands on Xenosaga, but I will be reporting back when I do.

Like what game is a DVD-9?
It has booted everything so far... Then Again I'm not sure which games would be DVD-9. |
Xenosaga and Metal Gear Solid Substance are dvd9.

Yeah, I'm starting to think maybe I'll go for an apple. Bighap, correct me if I'm wrong but it is better for the laser than the Neo is, correct?
Basically, I have to justify to the wife getting a chip instead of buying games. Considering that I really don't buy THAT many games... LOL. Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I would use the chip for anything illegal. I of COURSE buy all my games. But ... *sigh* I wish there were a GC chip, my son literally ATE my Mario Sunshine disc the other day, and those things are proprietary mini-DVD's! ARGH! - Gurm |
Every chip is better for your laser than the Neo chips. The Neo chips are the only chips that do harm to your laser. You will be very happy with an Apple chip. I know I am.:)
|
Bighap, I did get a hold of Xenosaga. It didn't work at first.... I had to shut off the chip to get it to boot. After that it worked fine. Just thought I'd let you know.

Thanks. I am still going to rent it to check it out anyways, but not to play it. I hate RPGs. Blockbuster/Hollywood is always out when I go.:mad:
