What is this error of Splinter cell?????
 

I havejust installed Splinter cell and when I run it I get the following message, " general protection fault". Why is this?????
What do I have to do to play the game???????

You can try changing the Splintercelluser.ini (something like that) file in the system directory. Change the resolution setting to 800x600 (or if it's at 800x600 already, then try 640x480 - i forget which is the default).
This works for some - didn't work for me - my friend was able to run the game using an ATI Radeon 128Mb card, so I think it's a graphics card issue.

@ WhatWhat Are you talking about the official demo or the full game your trying to run. I had the official demo off PCZONE mag and i had the exact same error message as you as did 1000s of other people. (you just need to have a look on the splintercell web site/Forums). I now have the Full game and diddnt experience any probs like i did in the demo. Great game. What graphics card do you have ? You probarly know this but ill post it just incase :D Make sure you have the new drivers for your graphics card. I have a freind who was trying to play this game a with a TNT and he has same probs as you

I have the full game but I can finally play it. I downloaded the latest nvidia driver for my geforce 2 and it works perfectly
