ok this may sound lame but...
 
Ok so i'm not new to copying games but i'm new to the prospect of actually chipping the consoles, i'm good with circuit boards and what not though so I should have no problem with a guide, the only thing I wanna know is how do I find what model my Playstation 2 is so I know what chip to purchase? Thanks for the hlep guys ^.^

This qustion has been asked a million times. You can determine your version here. For future questions try using the search botton. Chances are your quation has been asked before. If you have a v4 or below, I wouldn't mod it. v1-v4 had terrible lasers which can lead to backup playing problems. If you want the best mod, get a Messiah 2. You can buy one from charlie_ps2 or dust2dust. Just send them an email to let them know you are interested and they will send you the details. Install guides are available at www.messiah2.com

30001 = ver 1-3
35001 = ver 4
30001R = 5-6
30009 = 7

not really but close.

30001 with 10 screws is version 1-3

30001 with 8 screws is version 4

35001 is version 4

30001 R with 2 screws in expansion bay is version 4

30001 R with 3 screws in expansion bay is version 5

30001 R with 3 screws in expansion bay and an upside down ribbon port is a version 6

39001 is a version 7
