Magic 3 Issue

Is it me or Magic 3.0? I can back-up and play most of my ps1 games. I have never had a problem backing up the ps1 games, but only make coasters when I do ps2 games. I have used cdrwin, alcohol 120, clonecd, etc. I know they are cd games. I follow proper boot procedures and have even tried to patch the games. I even sent the ps2 back to get tested. Still can't back-up. My burner checked out on cdrwin list also. Using tdk cds but tried others, too.

I have a magic 3.5, same as your 3.0 just with a wire set. I have never had a problem with any CD based game and I also used TDK CD-R. So lets just check a couple things. First off you can't usually play a PS1 game and then switch to a PS2 game without turning off the machine to reset it. This is as they state in their instructions I have noticed that occasionally you can switch back and forth but not always. Also you are loading the PS2 games with a single tap of the reset button, right? Not holding reset until the eject light comes on like your PS1 games.

yes i have tried all boot procedures. I go to standby and a single tap. Between modes I always start from standby. I have also tried three different games to backup. I don't understand why I can bakup ps1 games but not ps2. I have a couple of ps1 games that work on the ps1 but not the ps2? Thant seems strange also. Since the chip works for 1 should it work for the other? Thank you

Have you tried PS2 dvd-r backups? I always use clonecd for cd backups. Have you tried a slower read and write speed?

I don't know what else i could suggest beside finding a friend with a cd burner and trying to make a copy with his comupter just to check if its your burner that has the problem. Also who installed your chip? Is it someone you find to be trustworthy? Its possible that they are just telling you that it is working for them, they could have done a bad install or given you a clone of a magic chip.
