LG and Lite-On

I was always of the understanding that LG and Lite-On products were a bit naff but after reading through the various post here, it seems that they are recomended for backing up safe disk 2 protected disks. I would be intersested to hear the views of any one who have had first hand experience of these drives.

Thanx

I have used an LG Drive for years but have just purchased a Lite-On as they are more compatible with CloneCD, protection and all that stuff.

The LG drive was still going strong but just got outdated. I'm keeping hold of it just in case of a breakdown.

My first impressions of the Lite-On are very good.

I think you'll find that a lot of people of this forum use Lite-On drives, that's another reason why I opted for one this time.

They do indeed seem very popular on this forum. What model did you go for?? I have a list of the "2 sheep drives" from the clone site but i havn't found any of them in the shops as yet. I found a Sony CRX 220 A (£59:99) but on the list it is CRX 220 E, do you thunk its the same thing? I have always used Sony in the past with great results. Its only now that its become a bit out of date (cant do EFM encoding)

I purchased the Lite-On 48246S (48x24x48).

I also have a Sony DDU1621 DVD-Rom and a Sony DW U10-A DVD Writer both of which work well.

At the end of the day it's down to personal choice but I hope you found my comments helpful.
