safedisk games crashing on launch(daemon and playback haunting me?)please help!!
ever since i used daemon tools and playback to get a backup working, all the safedisk 2 protected games i've bought or hired since keep crashing to the desktop on launch....even after i deleted both....is my p.c. still detecting remnants of these programmes?........it could just be a coincidence i suppose and my old mobo could be the source maybe(it is nearly 3 years old).
please help an old noob fellas!!......cheers my specs:ath 750 512 sd 100 ram geforce3ti200 latest det' drivers directx9 |
Deleting the programs shouldn't be good enough. You should use their uninstall feature. You should definately use Playbackup's uninstall feature, and you should update Daemon Tools to the latest version rather than removing it.
If you have deleted all the reference to Playbackup, try installing it again, then using the uninstall feature so it can clean it up properly. Most new games have a blacklist - if they detect such programs on the computer they wont even let u play your original games!! The programmers usually just update their software to stop the blacklist - it's a game of cat and mouse. |
will a system restore (factory settings )work?
|
are they crashing with a page fault in ~df394b ?
if so your image might be bad. |
there's no fault message at all, as soon as i click on the desktop icon to launch a game the flash screen comes up,disappears and nothing happens(always safedisk 2 games i repeat)...i'm going to hire a non safedisk game soon then i'll know for sure if its the daemon/playback problem.....thanks guy,s.......any feedback is always appreciated.

Use the newest Daemon Tools version, which should fix most blacklists (v3.29 atm, 3.3x is upcoming) - Playback is blacklisted, donīt know about any updates/fixes, so donīt use Playback anymore!

i found an easier way fellas!!.......the game will run with a no cd exe crack so its definately a daomon/playback prob..........anyway,thanks for your time guys, much appreciated!!
|
Yes that will work no probs cos all the Safedisk crap is removed. But this shouldn't be the way to go - you shouldn't be forced to download a "fix" in order to play your original games >> stupid Macrovision << but anyway, you've got your solution, so good luck.
