C & C Generals, need a simple solution? I hope.

Hi, I just recenlty managed to make a backup copy of C&C generals using clone cd version 4.2.0.2 I backedup up both cds using clone cd without running into any problems. Copy was successful. I installed the game using the original cds. When I start up the game with the original cd #1 it works perectly, but when I try using my backup it doesn't work. I get the following message, "Please re-insert disc, click ok and restart the application". It's like if it's not recognizing my backup, why? I am using windows xp and I don't know what could be causing this? Please help.

Enable "Hide CD-R Media" in the CloneCD Tray.

I can't enable "Hid cdr media" because it is dimmed out. I can't click on it. Not highlighted. why? I have a NEC NR 7800A burner.

Change your regional settings to another country, Canada for example.
Use the forum Search function to learn more about this subject, it has been answered many times before.

On my older version of clone the sheep in the cd tray used to be orange, now with the newer version of clone cd 4.2.0.2 it is grayed out? How can I get the old version back?

It worked!! I love you

Man you are the best. It worked. I did what you told me, I changed my regional settings to Canada and all my backups are working again. How did this fix it? Also by having my regional settings set to Canada will this cause any problems on my computer?? I also noticed there is a new botton on my taskbar that says "EN" (English united states). Why was this put here automatically? thanks again. You made my day.

CDR's contain something called an ATIP code, this is extra information put on the disc itself that can be extracted by a cdwriter. This same code cannot be read by cdrom/dvdrom readers, only the writers. So some copy protections use this check to see if you're trying to run a cdr from a writer. The clonecd tray util has functionality to hide the ATIP, but for legal reasons this is disabled for countries with things like the DMCA (like the US). So switching to another country reenables this util. Personally, I've set mine to Jamaica. It's got most settings right and I like some reggae. The fact that I'm about 10.000 miles form it doesn't really matter, mon ! :D

Nope, worst thing that can happen is some changes in your country settings, things like date/time format etc. Check them out, you can change them all back individually to whatever you want

It's because Canada has officially two languages, English and French. This little button is actually a language toolbar, enabling you to switch between different keyboard layouts etc. Just rightclick on it and you can disable it again.
