What do I need sub channels for?
 

Hello. Could anyone please clarify what does subchannel modes do? I have backed up my original Shogun (SD2) with (BR/BW) and it works fine. I use the philips 804 (which I know does not support subchannel) both as reader and writer. When would I need subchannels?

SafeDisc2 is a raw-sector based copyprotection, you won´t need to read subchannel data from SD2 protected games, but if you´ve SecuROM protected games or Playstation cds with Libcrypt you need subchannel data (PQ for SecuROM, PW for Libcrypt, ´cause you´ve to write Libcrypt uncorrected - only possible in DAO-PW mode).
