What version are you installing on? If its an older version were you have to solder wires to the bois chip then I would get rid of your chip and get a different one, or a newer PS2. The wires provided in the kit are way to thick to solder to a chip. This is how I fried my V4.

i have a v5 and i did have to solder the oposite side which was kinda weird and i did notice that the wires were alot thicker than other chips i have installed. i dont know , is that a symptom of fried board?
thanks bob |
I can't really be sure if you fried it. Sounds very similar though. Minewould just go to a black screen, no disc spinning, and usually wouldn't even eject. I would suggest checking for bridged soldering points. I fyou see none take out the chip and try your ps2. If it works then its not fried, if it doesn't then it probably is. I fit does work without the chip try and reinstall it.

also caheck that all your cables are fitted tighly and that none were damaged when you put your machine back together

hmm it powers on and i can open and reset but thats all. im pretty sure that the wires and cables are fine the only thing thats kinda iffy is the BGA board wich had to be soldered on the opposite side that didnt really seem to right i guess i'll rip it open and re solder that, if this dont work im jsut gonna buy a ps2 with a chip allready installed to save the trouble.
thanks bob |
