Hey, BG I noticed you have the pioneer 105 with the new firmware (1.21) I also have the same drive with the same firmware. When I first got the drive I bought 50 ritek dvd-r that burned at 2x, I burned like 7 of them at 2x and they burned fine no problems, this was with firmware 1.01, after that I upgraded to firmware 1.21, I tried burning another 2x ritek dvd-r and to my surprise I could only burn them at 1x now and it’s the exact same media I was burning at 2x before (I tried different programs like: Nero, RecorNow Max, Primo and Easy CD creator they all detected my media at 1x), I bought some pioneer 4x dvd-r and they could burn at 4x with no hassle, but not my ritek 2x dvd-r. I was wondering if have encountered any similar problems.

I haven't had any problems.... I just updated my firmware last night.... I have burned 3 games and 2 dvd movies since and have burned all 5 of them at 4X......(All of these were burned on suposedly 1X Ritek media).....

What program do you use to burn?
And where did you buy that media?

I used RecordNow MAX to burn with and bought the Ritek media on ebay...(From the seller prestoshoppercom)....

Damn you go through them fast. Of course when you are just experimenting by burning a game(DMC2) 3 times at different speeds, I guess you would go through them fast.:)

Do any of yall happen to know how to burn 1x dvds at 4x with the sony dru500a drive? Is this even possible. Thanks

Hmm... I don't know about the Sony.... TylerDurden has one maybe he can help you with it.....

Yeah... It can add up quickly.... :D

Although it could be because I have about 500 dvd backups (dvd movies included of course)......

Who knows.... They just seem to run out......:D
