What's the most frequent problem when you get a red screen???

I have a MEssiah 2 XS and I keep on getting this red screen with my backups. I have a version 7 ps2 and I have tried everything on my motherboard, but I keep on getting that red screen. So please help me out. Give me your opinions and thanks in advance!!!!!!

What boot procedure do you use? From what I understand this is just the hk messiah and according to Charlie’s test review once the disc is already inside you have to tab the reset button once to boot the game.

I turn of the playstation 2 completely off from behind with the game inside and then i turn it on again and then hit the reset button. But notting happends. I have tried every possible boot up method, even from other modchips, but no luck.

If nothing boots not DVD or CD then you should take a look inside the ps2 and make sure a wire didn't come loose or is in the wrong place.

My originals work, but my backups don't. And i have checked every wire man, i'm frustrade. What are usual problems with taht red screen??

How are you making your backups are you making 1:1 copies? Also try using different media (better quality if possible).
Check your ps2 motherboard for bridges or “cold solder joints” a dull finish on your solder means a “cold solder joint” and data doesn’t transmit as good a shiny finished solder.
Finally if all else fails try a different chip, get an original messiah2 not a clone.

My backups have notting to do with it, because i use to have version 3 ps2 and they worked fine.

With a new v7 it shouldn't be a problem.

Some consoles do require a laser adjustment. If you want to try and adjust the laser to make sure go ahead, I think I saw a guide over at megagames.com and cleaning the laser won’t hurt either.
Did you install the chip yourself?
I so what kind of wire did you use?

kooldraco 02-02-2003 19:37

Remember for data 30 gauge wire is fine
For Power and Ground 24 gauge wire is to be used and try to keep it as short as posible.

Hey a quick question, do your ps1 backups boot?

I had this problem and it turned out to be a type of wire problem. You need to use AWG 30 wire wrapping wire for all signal lines and make em as short as possible.

Also worth getting the motherboard under a microscope and checking all the connections in detail.

Had another thought.

Red screen has nothing to do with the laser.

If you have laser probs then you either get a black screen followed by the browser page after about 30 secs or you get a disc read error message.

If u getting red screen then this is a booting problem.

As you know that yr back-ups are okay then the only other things can be your boot proceedure or the chip fitting.

Read up on booting instructions and see if you can get a PS1 backup to work.

If this works then your chip is working okay.

Try a movie on DVDR in there and if this works then yr laser is okay.

If you get to this stage the best thing is to go back inside and check the chip fitting again.

If necessary remove the chip, check the PS2 works fine without it and then start again with proper wire etc.

Good Luck!!!!!!
