Care to help a newbie?
HI,
I just bought a LG 52X CDRW. It supports DOA-96 and other good stuff.(according to clone CD) I've read the faqs, protection info, procedures and downloaded Clony XL 2.0.0.6 and Clone cd 4.X. I thought I was on the right track untill trying to make a BU of Syberia. (yes I searched the Syberia threads) I used Clony to pass to Clone cd but I get a disk that "looks right" and starts the install of the game but then locks and crashes. I'm reading to image at 4X per clony and writing with the clony setting also.(ignore weak sectors) What am I doing wrong? Is it because I'm useing a non-cdrw drive to install the game? (I know some backups only work in the cdrw drive they were created on) Did I just pick the wrong game to get started on? Thanks for your help, Sixx:confused: |
Read even the weak sectors when U do the image. SafeDisc protection are using weak sectors and it could be that the installation file are safedisc protected. So read in the weak sectors. With Blindwrite tools!
|
I thought clone cd did that automatic. maybe clony passed the wrong settings?
|
It's can take up to severals of hours to read all the weak sectors.
If remember when I try to do a personal backup for The Sims. I think it was about 1100 weak sectors. And blindwrite tools did a bozzo scanner. Or what they call. It was taking about 1-2 ours to do the perfect image of the sims. So it can take time dude! |
Clone cd only took 20 min to read to image. MAybe I need to try the blindwrite suite.
I still dont understand why clony would use the wrong settings. |
CloneCD often need a tool to read SafeDisc protection CD:s.
Like CloneXXL or something like that. Blindwrite tools, is form that I could detect automatic what security the CD-ROM has. And then do the setting it self. Read more about the blindwrite tool and the clonecd tools in www.blindwrite.com and www.cdmediaworld.com The last link is a complet info about all the recomended program to do a perfect image! |

ClonyXXL is simply a frontend tool for CloneCD (You dont have to have it) to help the newbies to burning, establish the protection used on the disc & pass onto CloneCD what it thinks the settings should be. Once you learn how to establish which protection is being used, which in time is simply experienced from exploring the disc, you really dont need ClonyXXL...... Burning is a Trial & Error experience & over time you learn what settings worked best for you for the many protections out there. A good start is to READ UP on each of the protections & what files to look for on the CD.... You mean well Krondike...but just a little care with your comments please.......... |
Thanks
I have read the protection info and understand the file ID and proceedures. maybe I was not clear in my question:\ Clony xxl 2.0.0.6 passed the settings to clone cd. clone cd read the cd to image succesfully (or so it said) at 4X. when I burned the cd (with clone cd using the clony settings) amplify bad sectors was greyed out? Clone cd reported a sucessful burn but the installation of the program crashed. ?????? make any sense? |
change ur regional settings on ur comp to English australian
or anything except america canada or the UK it's not allowd for some reason |

But why should I rember all the settings? It's better with tools, and it's easier. I'dont like CloneCD becuase of the settings. Like for a example. If I have a CD with borth CD data, and CD musik, Like CIV 2. Why setting should I use? Becuase U get a menu, to select if it is a Data-CD or a Music-CD and not both. The Clone CD 3 was easier in that case. Blindwrite tools has always been easy, when the f*cking program now my CD. Some times it say, unknow CD, the CD can be corrupted when U burning it. Well it's only to see the facts. No burning program is perfect. |
@ Sixx2.. I understand you are using clonyXXL v 2.0.0.6 with clonecd. I also use what you have stated and have been able to make a back-up of every game i own. (including new games with copy protections). There are different versions of ClonnyXXL v2.0.0.6 wich can be determined from the size of the D/L. How big is the version of clonnyxxl you are useing? I can say for certian that some of the newer versions of clonyXXL and v 2.0.0.6 tell you what protection is on the game you want to back up but do NOT generate a working profile wich changes your settings with-in clonecd. This is due (i think) because there are strickter copy right laws in Germany (and clonnyXXL is German after all) and the developers put simply dont want any hassle. How ever even if it dosent generate a profile that automaticly changes the settings in clonecd you can D/L them from here
http://www.cdfreaks.com/images/forum...)%20[no%20 (this is safe disk 2 profile i think wich is what syberia is protected with isnt it?) so all you have to do is change the settings in clonecd manualy. Also have a look in here as it explaines in more detail about what versions of clonyXXL do the settings automaticly the thread is called "CLONYXXL v2.0.0.6 unafical english version...quick question inside" and its in GCW obviously. (the thread was started by me and contains some important info wich may well sort your problems out). If you have any trouble getting the 2.0.0.6 english version of clonyXXL wich sorts out the settings in clone PM me with a e-mail address and ill send it you ;) . If your cdrw gets X2 sheep with clone and supports "RAW DAO,RAW SAO,buffer under run ect then i see no reason why you are unable to create a working backup of Syberia as its only safe disk protected and clone with clonyXXL should have no probs Also what you said Quote:
