evox CD

I just received my mod chip. Now I am trying to make a CD with Evox on it.
I have a directory with the following in: default.xbe, evolutionXbetav1.8.3285.nfo, evox.ini and a directory Skin.
I made a Xiso file from it and burned it on a CD-RW.

Now I tried to view the files in windows to see if everything was on the CD but windows doesn't recognise it.

Is this normal because it is a Xiso file?

Do I have to put something else on the CD to let it work because I have read somewhere about dummy files?

THX for replying,

beertje

If you burned the iso onto a cd-rw, then the reason windows doesn't recognize it is because it is an the format of an xbox game.

And if it won't load up in your xbox, then you'll probably need to insert a dummy file.

You sure your modchip is working and installed right?
What kind of chip did you end up putting in there?

I checked my mod chip (Xecuter 2 and its working OK because after start up Microsoft is disappeared and it says now Xecuter 2!

So I guess I have to put a dummy file on my CD-RW?
How do I do that: What kind of file? I include it in de X ISO file or I put first the dummy file on it and than the X ISO?

edit: I use Nero 5.5.5.1 to burn the CD-RW. Maybe my settings are wrong?
After I made the X ISO file you can 'add ISO 9960 compatibility to X box ISO' is this necessary?

Can please someone explain to me how I put that dummy file on it? I tried different ways and none of them worked.
Getting desperate over here.

Thank you,

What kind of modchip did you install?

I installed a Matrix in a buddy's Ver1.0 XBox. Got the thing lined up and the green light was flashing. Put the XBox all back together, and went to boot EvoX. Abd the damn thing wouldt boot. Took it all apart and looked at the chip, and made sure I didnt bump it while I was putting it back together. Every thing looked fine, so I went to book EvoX again, and still nothing. Thinking of a way I could check to see if the modchip was working, I thought I could boot Halo, eject the game and see if it reset, knowing I put the eject fix on it. Sure thing it did. Took it all apart again, and the green light would flash like it was installed right. Undid the chip from the board, looked to make sure none of the pongo pins were messed up, and reinstalled it again.

This time I had it lined up right. So if you got a Matrix check that.
Or if you got some thing you soldered, check all your soldering points.

To mak the image with a dummy file, just create the iso with the fake file in the same directory, so it joins into the iso. Make sure it is like 300mb+.

If you dunny how to make a dummy file, just add in an extra folder in the same directory as evoX. Name it whatever you want. Then put a bunch of random large files in it. Create the iso and burn.

THX very much for the info Quall999 !!

I tried it and it finally booted the evolution X disk!

I don't have time to copy Evox on the HD of my Xbox today but he recognises and boots the CD-RW so I think that will be no problem!
