Can a NO-CD crack affect on-line play

Hi all ;) : Another quickie so ill get straight to the point. I have battle field 1942 (yes ive used the search :p ) and its up-dated to the new version but when ever i use the no-cd crack and try to log on to some one who is hosting a game i get "data differs from server" error. I have no probs hosting my own server or in single player mode its only when i want to connect to a server. So i am wondering if the servers i am trying to connect to know i am using a no-cd crack and thats why i get the error message. I have no trouble if i dont use the nocd crack and play through the original disks wich is why i belive it maybe crack related. Anyone else had this problem ? and if you did were you able to sort it without having to use the original exe thus resulting in having to use the original disks. If i was able to make a 1.1 back up would it detect it was a back up when i update the game?. Thanks again for the help guys ;)

G'day coffin filler,

I've also had the "Data differs from Server" error as well. When using a No CD crack you can Host a game - but when others are about to connect they get a "data differs from server" as you said.

As I understand it (& this could be the Mod.dll file doing it ) the game itself still checks to see if you have an original BF1942.exe file. The original exe is about 8meg in size. Now when you replace this original exe to a 2 meg NO CD crack, of course the game cannot find the original exe (cause you replaced it with the crack)as the data differs from what its looking for, being the 8meg file.

The early versions of the 1.2 Fixed exe / No CD also included a BF1942.org file (the original exe renamed to .org) which you also replaced in your BF1942 game folder with the cracked .exe.

With this bf1942.org file the game recognises this as the original exe & others can then connect.

So simply rename an original bf1942.exe to bf1942.org or download it from GCW) & place it (with the cracked exe) in your game folder. You should be right to go then......post back to let us know if it also worked for you....

This was based on a LAN experience, not sure if it will work on the net.

Otherwise....yes...playing with the original disc / original exe shouldn't give you the problem.

That's kind of instering problem. I've also experence that problem. What I've have found out there is a bug in that error. Some times it comes some times it don't comes.
But I think it's suppost to come so there a bug that sometimes get around the protection.
CDkiller has reales a LAN crack if I don't rember wrong. Maybe that should help. And also try what Watchout has written.

Hop U have install the 1.2 patch correctly and has u'r own CD key. If U don't have the own CD key. It's can be a CD key conflict. So let us know if u have the original CD key

Thanks Watchout, krondike and TippeX. I also thought it was due to the crack being used but wasnt 100%. I am going to check out what watchout sugested as this makes sence. Also Krodike i did say in my original post that when i play from the original disks (with out a no-cd crack obviously) i have no trouble and so i do have my own cd key but i can understand why you would ask :p
I will post back when i have tried the sugestions made so you will know how i got on and other people will also no if they use the search..Thanks for the info guys :D

Also guys can up-dateing mother board drivers help with backing up games? My guess is it can but again i am not 100% (can you notice a confidence problem :p )

First or the second question?
If U have problem to run AOE II on multiplayer use a no-cd loader
if u having trouble to backing up the game. Use blindwrite.

to conffin filler:
I've never read that motherboard drivers can effect the backing up part.
But this can't effekt U down, this things can help U if U have problems with backing up games 1:1.

Download latest DirectX 9.0
Download latest Media Player 9.
(This help also som games problems)
Download latest drivers for grapic cards.
Download most updates for Windows X (maybe all).
Download latest burning program.
Example if U are using Nero Burning Rom, download an update for the latest. ETC.

To make a perfect working copy use.
Blindwrite Tools.
or
Clone XXL
or
Alkohol 120%.

To burn the image U can also use.
Fireburner.

Make sure that your Burning driver are supporting the program. More info can u see on the burning programs homepage.

However i diddnt know that D/L direct x 9 could help with makeing a 1.1 back up of my games :p I am wondering how it helps so if you read this could you explain please. One last thing is i asked if up-dating my motherboard drivers can help with the backing up of games and you diddnt think so, Well after browsing the net yesterday i came across a site that reckons up-dateing your motherboard drivers can help,(however i dont know myself if this is true) So if anyone else reads this post and has any info on up-dateing mother board drivers and if it can help please share your knowlage :p Thanks

So all who has been wondering if DirectX and Media Player are gonna help U with 1:1 copy, I don't think so. But it several reasens why I wrote that U and the others should download latest drivers and burning program.
And I can't write long answer in this forum. So sorry U can't write the exact reason.

coffin filler 29-01-2003 14:18

@ Krondike Hmmmmm Im at a loss. After reading your post about Direct x 9 and media player helping with 1.1 back-ups of games. I questioned this as it diddnt ring true and then you said "So all who has been wondering if DirectX and Media Player are gonna help U with 1:1 copy, I don't think so. But it several reasens why I wrote that U and the others should download latest drivers and burning program.

Correct me if im wrong (as im sure you will) But i thought you originaly said (not in the post i just quoted the one before) that D/L direct x 9,Media player ect ect would help with makeing 1.1 back-ups wich as i said i diddnt belive so i wonder why you said that?? Was it because you felt everybody would be better off if they updated all the stuff you said and so you told a porky  to get them to D/L it all ?? Or have i misunderstood what you were saying ?? My original post was simply asking about battle field 1942 (wich you gave some info on) and if up-dateing my motherboard would help with backing up games. I hope i have misunderstood what you were trying to say and you havent been telling porkies :p

krondike 30-01-2003 01:49

U have right and wrong.
First I say "this things Can help U..."
and second I say "So all who has been wondering if DirectX and Media Player are gonna help U with 1:1 copy, I don't think so.
To be clearly.
If DirectX 9 it's gonna help U or not. I don't know. But I do know, that DirectX 9 arent just for graphic stuff. It's also help U connect online, and other game devices. If is effects on CD-Burning I DON'T KNOW.

Media Player 9 it's not gonna help U but it's a good program. :p

So my reason is simple. DirectX 9 and Media Player 9 can help U if U have problems with a game. But I don't think it's effects 1:1 copy.

And if U update burning programs. It would effect your burning. :p

coffin filler 30-01-2003 13:30

:D Right you are:D

Also thanks for the tip
