help pls, v7 pal messiah 2
Hi everybody!
Im new to this board and also new to PS2. First thing i've done was ordering a Messiah 2 mod chip as adviced by so many users of this board in almost every topic. I've taken my PS2 to a relative of mine that is quite skilled in electrics (hes an electrician) to install the chip. We've done all soldering and wiring plus the pal color fix. After reassembling the PS2 it started in standby mode and after pressing eject to open the tray and once again to close it, it came to the browser screen where it said "no data". The reset led was red all the time plus it didnt work. So I could press the button but nothing happend. So we reopend the PS2 and removed the reset wire and the 3.45v from the Messiah 2 chip, to disable the it. This time after reassembling, we had a black screen and the disc wasnt spinning(cant tell if it worked before we reopend it, i guess not...). But this time, the reset led was red as I switched the power on and after I pressed the button it went green and it looked like it did a reset. Well, we reopend it again and this time soldered the reset and 3.45v wires again to the chip. This time again black screen and no disc spin but reset seems to work again (first red light and after pressing eject green). Hm, but what now? I looked in the troubleshooting section but couldnt find a solution besides that a fuse could haven gone broken. I think the soldering was correct and quite good, so I have no clue what it could be. Faulty chip? I ordered it here in Germany from diveno.de which are supposed to sell no clones. (the chip looks exactly like the once from messiah2.com site, without pcb fault, and the label on it says messiah 2 pro). I would appreciate help so much! Thank you very much, and sorry for the quite long posting! P.S. Sorry charlie for not buying from you. You would have been cheaper but the Deutsche Post (mail delivery) said it would take about 10 days to only send you the money. And I couldnt wait that long!! ;) |
addition: the disc motor isnt completly dead but does a 1/10th turn (someone else on this forum had this problem but there was no conclusion) after u inserted a disc. But that was all.
Well, I guess we do have to check the fuses or what I found in the troubleshooting guide: "If the black screen is accompanied by one or both of no sound/disk won't spin, then check that the Magic 2 was fully seated on insulating tape." But the tape(standard double sided tape) is larger than the chip... |
no one knows anything?

paypal or bank transfer 1 day max
postage from uk 1-4 days max but never mind from what u are saying its damamed reset cable (silver one when ps2 first opened) check each track in cable with a meter or a misinstall bridge ,solder ball what version ps2 u got? how about divineo they not giving u support :):):):) |
bank transferal costs ~13€
and if ur aim was to make me have a bad conscience, u have won :( I know I should have bought from you, but I was so horny about the chip, hope u understand.. reset cable should not be damaged as everything worked ok after reopening the PS2 and removing the reset +3.45v wires. Its a v7 PS2. Tomorrow I will know more as we will reinstalled the chip and check every wire, fuses and the involved SMDs. thanks dust2dust :) |
now it seems to work, but I cant test it cuz I dont have any games yet! lol! :)
but this week I will buy FFX and try to get a rip kit for it so I can burn it on CD as I dont have a DVD-Writer yet. |
