DVD+RW on V7 PS2??

I have burned successfully a back up of my ffx for a test since i just got the dvd+rw disc. The ps2 would go to the red screen. Does this mean that my ps2 wont be able to play dvd+r either?

ThAD0oD 22-01-2003 18:17

ps2s will read dvd+.

what mod are you using? magic's might have some problems with dvd+....

ixmusiqxi 22-01-2003 18:18

yea i have a magic 3... so does that mean a no to + format?

ThAD0oD 22-01-2003 18:21

well magics seem to not boot games burnt in specific modes, i dont know the specifics.....

but try burning with a different prog. dvd+ works on my v7 (i played a friend's dvd+ backup)

ixmusiqxi 22-01-2003 18:24

what do u mean by modes?

ThAD0oD 22-01-2003 18:25

DAO, DAO+96, RAW etc....

ixmusiqxi 22-01-2003 18:35

how do i change this, i am using recordnow max 4.5

ThAD0oD 22-01-2003 18:37

dunno.

i was talking about with Nero....

hmm..... have you thought about maybe it being the backup?

ixmusiqxi 22-01-2003 18:40

yea i checked the dvd+rw on my dvd drive and it displayed the information

ThAD0oD 22-01-2003 18:50

sorry i worded that wrong, have you tried checking the rip of the game to the backup? (maybe there is something wrong with the image you made so that it wouldnt boot up)

or it could be the booting method.

try booting something else up, like a GS2 or AR2 or DVDX then swappin.

ixmusiqxi 22-01-2003 18:53

i dont have gs2, ar2, or dvdx

ThAD0oD 23-01-2003 05:50

logically speaking, if you boot something then swap it, given that it's a working burn/backup, it should boot.

or maybe its just not meant to be.....

just keep tryin different burn methods, programs, booting etc...

ThAD0oD 23-01-2003 11:14

oh! i just thought of an idea.

you should try adjusting your laser, this would especially help if you ps2 is a v7, since their lasers are tweaked to not like recordables (as i said in another thread).

charlie has made some FAQs on adjusting the laser, some are at ps2newz.

ixmusiqxi 24-01-2003 06:40

yea... my ps2 boots dvd+r but not the sony dvd+rw that i used....
