dvd writer firmware
 

i have a pioneer 105 dvd writer , can anyone tell me what is the firmware , it tells me i have version 1 and on the pioneer website it says there s a new version out .
but if i upgrade it i can never go back to the old firmware
so can anyone tell me the benefits if any with upgrading the firmware

Firmware is a BIOS / Driver update for your DVD-RW.
So, what are the advantages? Well:

1. Bugs are fixed from the previous versions.
2. Support for new media.
3. 4x support for media which didn't have the capability before.
4. Support for new software
5. Some actions / media may damage your drive if you do NOT update to the new firmware

-AND-

6. It isn't going to affect anything to do with your system/setup/software but you MAY or even WILL damage the drive if it isn't updated. You do NOT need to go back to the previous versions anyway once you have updated so there is only one thing left to say and that is update your drive - you'll be glad you did!

Before you execute the firmware update program close all other progs and then execute and don't touch anything while it updates firmware, and make sure stuff like screensaver and sleepmode is disabled. should take a couple of minutes to do.

Restart computer, open my computer. Right click on A05 drive and loooook at properties. It'll tell u new firmware update.

PS. Wots this got to do with a PS2 forum??LOL!!!

Ottoman does say the same.

Firmware does make a huge difference. For some reason whenever I used Verbatim on my old firmware update they would bug out in mid burn ( the only make to ever do that on my A04) but since firmware update have had no probs.

yea bighap theres were i was but this is all i see under firmware.
