I'ts the emulator. It's not yet fully compatible with all roms. It's the first beta release, so hopefully there will be more work done to it.

yeah, this DOES work, but when i put in the ROM cd i hear a REALLY loud grinding noise. Knowing that is not good, i decided to steer away from that for a while lol.

It may be the black cd-rs that i got a while ago for the PS1 (looks and such :D ), because the imation cd-r's seem to boot fine. If you wanna enlighten me on this, lemme know :P

how did u guys get it to work... i followed all teh directions but when i put the cd into the ps2, it booted, the ps2 logo came up and out rather quickly, and then a black screen from there... how come???

The ONLY thing colored cd-r's are good for is what you described.... LOOKS......

Most black cd-r's are not very good for anything.....

Thus the saying, "Black is CRAP" in the cd-r world.....

The PS2 has a HARD time reading colored media...(Not the case for ALL, BUT for most).....

Stick with better media, and this problem goes away.... :)

ixmusiqxi 19-01-2003 20:11

bg did you get the snes emu to work?

BG 19-01-2003 20:12

Yep.... Followed the directions.... Works like a charm.....

ixmusiqxi 19-01-2003 20:13

how big is size does the cd have to be... and what software did u use to burn it?

BG 19-01-2003 20:22

I'm not aware of a size limit.....

I burned the disc with only the files required and 1 rom.... I did this just to test with because I burned the same files twice with 2 different programs to see if it would work.....

NOTE: I didn't use NERO for either one, like the instructions say...

I used RecordNow Max on the first one and Easy CD Cremator (LOL) on the second one and they both booted perfectly on BOTH of my Messiah & Messiah 2 chipped PS2's......

Messiah team......Got to LOVE THEM!!!!!!!:)

have you tried using CDGen if not try it following these directions. http://ps2.consolevision.com/snesburn.shtml
I think the CD has to be less than 600mb.

orion731 20-01-2003 06:01

ixmusiqxi,
You wouldn't to happen by chance have a dvd remote/dongle in one of your controller ports? If I have mine in there I get the black screen that you described. Once I took it out it booted great. I never have used the cdgen program. I have heard that you are SUPPOSED to have atleast 60 roms on the disc for it to work. However BG, might have proved this wrong! Good luck to you. Also, this will not work with no-solder mods. Need to be a no-swap like the apple/Magic/Messiah chips.

(It's great playing the old school games on my PS2! :-)
