NBA2003: Does anyone else get "can't access harddrive" problems?

Did Full installation and installed the no cd patch, but as soon as the program is executed it goes to a black screen and then comes back with a can't access harddrive error?

Everything during the install seemed fine, and computer works fine before and after, other than this one program????

Barnsey_2002_#3 15-01-2003 20:03

I used to get this problem too.

Turn off any anti-virus programs you have running, (norton is usually the case). and it should work.

I don't get the problem anymore. :)

Hmmmm, no luck for me - I shutdown every process running and still got the error....

Any other ideas? Boot up differently maybe?

Does this happen with the original cd's and no crack installed ?

Don't post support about games here.
Contact the EA GAMES/SPORTS support.

i've tried uninstalling it and reinnstalling it but it still doesn't work?
when i run the exe it will start go to a white screen then go black and returns to the desktop? if you have any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it.

RincewindTheWiz 20-01-2003 09:24

Does it give the same error message when you use the original cd's and no crack ? If so, you'll just need to get support from EA themselves. You could also try out some video drivers. What video card do you have ?

help

Hey guys, yea i got the same message "can't access hard drive"

i tried using the original nba2003.exe file that came with nba 2003 and that didnt work, it gave me a repetitive error but that doesnt matter, the fact is it didnt work, so i then downloaded the no-cd nba2003 exe file, and now i get the error message that some of you are getting which is "cant access hard drive" which is pissing me off. i thought it would work since the screen faded to white, then black but then 5 seconds later it boots up back into desktop.

the problem isnt norton or any virus protection because i have nothing running in the taskmanager except "explorer" and "systray"

so if anyone can help me and the other guys who cant get our nba live 2003 game working, please help. thanks. and no i dont
think i would like to contact the ea sports personnel, any other suggestions?

krondike 20-01-2003 23:32

Try to delete the NBA live folder in My documents.
Then test to start the game.
Do a scandisc and see if there is error in the hardriver.
Download the latest of everything. DirectX 9, Mediaplayer 9 and the latest graphics drivers.

If U have done all these and still get a error message.
U can contact EA SPORTS for support. Beacuse U all got the original disc don't u?

Hardwood_Hool 21-01-2003 12:55

I will try this thanks... I can't remember if I have the latest direct X.

I do have original disk, but going to EA support for help is like going to any tier 1 support for help... useless... They will say all the same things that have been said here and I will still be out of luck..

Just wondering what OS others are on? Is this a Win98 error by chance?

My 2001 works fine, never have errors...

Hardwood_Hool 21-01-2003 12:59

As well, on another board someone told me that once they removed their internet connection the game worked fine, error disappeared but this did not help me...

Just FYI for others..

done

fixed my problem. i downloaded two files. the myth version of the nba 2003 no-cd and this other file that is found on this forum posted by one of the members. ok now do this .....

download the myth file at this link:

http://216.127.68.158/games/files/mytnl3.rar

download the second file, follow this link and find the file, its by a member called enexy

http://www.fileforums.com/showthread...threadid=39901

download that file, follow the instructions, download the .jpg file and once downloaded rename it as filename.rar.

ok now you have the two files, use winrar and unpack these two files. copy the ScanReg from the myth file and use the nba2003.exe file from the filename.rar file. dont use the nba2003.exe from the myth file, ok copy those and paste them into your nba 2003 folder. once done, run ScanReg and let that finish, about 10 seconds. once done, run nba 2003.exe and it should run fine.

good luck. later guys
