I had same Prob with same game what type of media do u use it will need to be good quaility. I used poor quaility disk and it would freeze take out the memory card and it would start to run again for a little bit then it would freeze again try better media i used sony DVD+R my backup runs no worrys now

ste_b 11-01-2003 06:57

is there any chance gta vice city would work on cd-r. or would that be almost impossible?

derek in aus 11-01-2003 07:09

dvd to cd rips aint easy and its a lot of stuffing around i was told if u have a dvd burner dont bother doing rips there to much effort.
also it may seem strange to all but if u put labels on dvd's it can effect the reading of the disk and cause it to have read errors I made sure not to put a label on mine any more

princo white label i used on...
the vice city back up..

bighap 11-01-2003 07:17

derek: he didn't apply labels. Princo white labels is a type of media they make.

Vice city does alot of loading while playing and some people don't have good results with Princo. I higher quality media should resolve your problem. What prog. did you use to burn it anyways? Rip kits are made for fitting a dvd game onto cdr(s) but this has yet to be done for GTA: VC. Like my young grasshopper derek said, they is really no point for ripping games if you have a dvd burner.

StartingLine 11-01-2003 07:26

i burned wiht primo
the same program i used for making
the image..

bighap 11-01-2003 07:31

That's fine. Try a higher quality media.

StartingLine 11-01-2003 07:33

what media do you recommend
verbatim and what other?

derek in aus 11-01-2003 07:34

about those labels

att: bighap do you think theres any chance[i know its not the prob here now] of the label effecting the running of the game my Gta vc worked fine the first time when i tested it [learnt the hard way to test before wasting covers on coasters] and then i had these dramas after labeling it. and how do u print on these pre label dvd's i cant see them going though my printer very well[forgive me if i'n dumb]

Do NOT put labels on your discs. They cause problems like you are having. I personally just write the name of the game of the disc with a Sharpie.

EXACTLY..... Labels can cause the disk to be unbalanced, making it harder for the PS2 laser to focus and read the disk correctly...

Do what bighap said...... Use a Sharpie... :) Thats how I label all of my discs also...

@ StartingLine

You are going to have to follow the simple rule..... Find the brand media that works best in YOUR PS2.......

Which Princo discs are you using.....? Do they have just a plain white top with no writing????
If so, those discs suck.....
I used Princo white tops (they had Princo 4.7GB DVD-R printed in black on the label...)
They worked fine....

I now use Ritek DVD-R's....They use the same dye as Traxdata and are absolutely PERFECT.......
