To all Pioneer A04 Owners

Hi,

Has anyone flashed their drives with patched (RPC1 fw1.40) to enable 2x write on all media etc? And has it had any effects on backing up their games.

Thanks!:)

Yeah... Am flashed with FW1.4 and made no noticable difference to backups.................Well actually if anything seemed to slow up 2 speed burning slightly but might just have been seriously intense data being written but apart from that, no probs!

Haven't tried a dvdrw in it since upgrading but will give it a whirl and let u no wot happens...............

I use 1.40 and just recorded the first disc of a movie using dvdxcopy and a dvd-rw and erased it with no problems.

Are you using the hacked version of fw 1.40 or the official?

What exactly would that file do? I'm totally new at this and just got my burner today. I thought we were supposed to write at a slower speed anyways.

Yes it's official, from the Pioneer site. Newer versions add support for some media brands that might not have worked with past firmware. This update is supposed to add support for Sony media, but I never heard anybody having problems with Sony before. Oh well. You can write with 1x, 2x, or 4x without any problems. If you stick to official firmware and stay away from hacked versions you should have no problems. ottoman: You have pm regarding the "trial version";)
