backup Xbox

hi, im new to the backup of xbox games scene. first, i know u need a modchip, i will order one soon. right now, i have a CD-RW drive. and i dont wanna buy a DVD burner right now. can i still backup xbox games?
if so, what else do i need? i read another thread how u need the xbox hooked up to the pc and two other programs running, i dont wanna do that either, it seems of much hassle. so if anyone can help me out, thanks.
oh and by the way, can i jus use blank CD-R, or do i need DVD-R?

hmm, so you don't wanna hook your xbox to your PC then? Well, thats the only way to copy games, unless you download them.

As for burning... Pretty much all the xbox games are larger than 800mb. If you were to copy a game, you'd have to downsize them by lowering video quality in movies, or removing them (same with sound). Not all games will fit onto a cd-rw either, most have complete files larger than 700mb, so you can't rip them. (only cd-rw's, dvd's, and dvd-rw's work by the way. CD-r's don't).

you could get evo x and save the games to your xbox hd and play them off the hd but the xbox only has a 8gb hd and the games are about 1-3gb you can't put many on the hd

yes in order to backup a xbox game you must have it networked to your pc. there is no other way it's just that simple.
you also must have evox running on your modded xbox. and a ftp programme ie flashfxp running on your pc.
you also need a dvd burner as almost all the games are way to big to fit on cd-rw. some games have single files bigger than the cappacity of a cd-rw.

DUDE - thanx for replying
I do have a DVD-r writer and a DVD+r writer so thats not a problem.. it`s the network thinig that gets me... have you got some links you could email me or backup advice - i`ve been backing up PS1 games for some time and just got into PS2 but now i`m going accross the board and this seems to be harder
cheers
