I'm very new at this ...my PS2 V4 with Magic3 chip will play DVD-R but not boot up to + or - R/w

I really don't think the v1 laser is up to reading the low reflectivity on DVD+RW or DVD-RW.
DVD-R is the only readable backup DVD media for the v1 through v4. |
007 Nightfire does not need a patch......
As Charlie_ps2 has said.... Its most likely the media you are using.. The DVD +/- RW discs are alot harder to read.... V1 - V4 PS2's have a harder time reading this type of media.... (On average)..... Better off staying with DVD-R..... And even this is not 100% on such an old console..... |
The chances are with an old version one console that u wouldn't b able to read dvd-r either. The options are:
Replace the laser with a new one ( reasonably easy job, cost about £45) Buy a new PS2 ( U could then get a pre modded PS2 with messiah 2 fitted). Even if u can get it working u are using a neo mod which will seriously reduce what life u have left in your laser. Had this problem with a version 4 PS2. Ended up replacing the laser. Took me about 20mins and worked perfectly without any setting up. U should seriously think about getting rid of the neo mod though and getting a no-swap. Regards......Good Luck!! Let us know how you get on. |
It's worth a try if the v1 plays DVD games without hesitation.
