colour fix...gone wrong

PS2 V5 30003R.....and MESSIAH 2

Help please..
i tried to implement the colour fix by bridging the 2 pins together. The solder bridged 2 many pins, so i tried cleaning them all up. I think i have done this.....i cannot detect any shorts between pins. BUT now my ps2 displays in black & white, also it will now not play anything...i just get the no data message.

Oh dear m8 - remember the old chiché 'At your own risk'

You are hawking this one round the forums. take it to a pro.

Thanks for your advice charlie, but unfortunately i may not be able to get it to a pro..even if i do i would still like to find out whats happened (thats how you learn). Once again your advice much appreciated.

Ok reapplied the fix now I got colour back.
Has anyone ideas as to the other problem with the no data message?

ps.
my console is:
SCPH-30003R

ps2 info screen now says:
SCP@%300SCP

No DATA could be an improperly re-installed disk cable, particularly the orange one.

Hull_chipper 17-12-2002 13:10

OOPS @ me! Thats two I returned to the shop that might not actually be bust then ;)

CopyDog 17-12-2002 13:56

no luck...checked the cables...all seem ok. I did n't remove any when doing the colour fix anyway.

charlie_ps2 17-12-2002 14:58

So it's solder balls somewhere. Big search to do.

CopyDog 17-12-2002 15:11

the ps2 is my boys. i don't ever use it so it makes it hard for me to notice if something is or is n't happening as it should.
I have noticed that when i put a disc in I cannot hear the disc spinning, the screen displays no data and says ps2 in the top left of the screen no matter what type of disc I put in.

CopyDog 18-12-2002 17:40

I did n't cut the track on the bottom of the m2 board...this did n't cause any problems for the first couple of days before i attempted the colour fix. could this be the problem? what does not cutting the track do?

charlie_ps2 19-12-2002 00:11

I've told you what to look for. Solder balls. Messiah 2 won't disable the disk. No data is at the basic level where the PS2 is unable to see data from the disk.

Solder balls or a disk cable problem.

CopyDog 19-12-2002 01:20

Thanks Charlie...
I am still in the process of checking for any solder balls. The above just occurred to me, so I thought I had better mention it in case it threw any light on the matter.

CopyDog 19-12-2002 09:39

ok...the ps2 has now worked a couple of times...but it is intermittent...ie sometimes it plays the game or film..but other times the disc does n't spin and I get no data message.

HALLELUJAH!...got it working...thanks to everyone for their advice
