Is it really cost effective to buy a DVD burner & a Pre-modded PS2?
 

Just by doing searches it seems it would cost $700.00 or more for a dvd burner & a pre-modded ps2.

Or am i just not looking in the "right" places?

Im in the US.

Also, does it matter at all what type of dvd burner?, since i believe there is no standard yet.

$700 is a little high. Probably closer to about $640. As far as dvd burners, pretty much everybody on this forum has either a Pioneer(104/A04/105/A05) or a Sony DRU500A. You can't go wrong with either of them. Oh yeah, it might seem expensive now, but trust me, its an investment you wont regret.
