magic3

i have a magic3 installed on my v7 ntsc PS2! i can play normal regular ps2 games, by pressing the stanby button. i cannot get any dvd movies to work. i tried by startin with eject, and stanby none worked. any ideas?

I MAY NOT HAVE THE RIGHT BOOT-UP METHODS(I USED THE ONES ON THIS SITEE POASTED BY B.G.)

thanks for your help!

can you boot playstation one backups? if you can't then the boot procedure is wrong. Remember you have to put the PS2 on standby (off by pressing the reset button for about 3 sec). Then to switch to DVD/PSX mode you have to press the reset button untill the blue light comes up on the eject button.

Don't trust me ehh..... :D

Here is a direct copy and paste from the OFFICIAL MAGIC 3 WESITE......(which is the same as I have posted)

With the disk assumed in the tray and the tray closed:

• For PS2 games, power up normally from STANDBY with RESET button. A single tap is required.

• For PS1 games & DVD Movies, power up from STANDBY with RESET button held until the blue EJECT light comes on; then release RESET and the disk will boot.

• Please turn off the PS2 (to standby) before changing Mode (PS1/PS2/DVD)

Are you holding the Reset button long enough??? UNTIL the blue Eject light comes on???????

is the tray suppose to open after holdin in the reset button?

READ the procedure.........

With the disk assumed in the tray and the tray closed:

i mean after i did that.. and when i hold the button in intill the light comes on then is the tray suppose to open?

BG 08-12-2002 18:20

It should boot the game...... Does your tray open....?

eakinsme 08-12-2002 18:21

yes my tray does open, after holdin intil the light comes on!

eakinsme 08-12-2002 18:24

P.S. BG in your instructions does it mean for ps2/ps2 backups?

Jackel777 08-12-2002 18:27

Did you install the chip yourself?
I would check all the soldering points to see if maybe a wire was solder to a wrong place, cause I don't think that's supposed to happen.

BG 08-12-2002 18:27

Original games should boot like a normal game.. The reset should boot backups....

eakinsme 09-12-2002 13:26

does anyone no what letter(s) wire the one is that controlls the reset button

thanks for youe help so far!

Hull_chipper 09-12-2002 15:11

Do your reset & eject buttons operste normally at all other times?

eakinsme 09-12-2002 15:56

yes i does... it workes just like it would without a modchip!(the light ie RED on stanby is the only difference). except i cannot use dvds/ps1 games!

Hull_chipper 10-12-2002 02:16

Thats not a difference m8 - ur light should be red on standby!
