Has the developers of NOLF2 and creativelab comeup with a soloution to the sound issu

I have a creative lab soundy audigy platinum sound card. Its great! However, A couple of months past, I purchased No One Live Forver 2. The game looked darn good and still does. The problem was...I could not hear the character voices, only in some scenes you get to hear their voices fade in and out. If possible, doe anyone know if this problem has been corrected. I figured by now they would have ample time to get with creatvie labs and come up with a soloution.

First of all, have you installed the v1.2 patch ? That should fix some problems. Also, there should be a file on one of the cds, an executable that installs some mp3 drivers for you. I don't know the name, but look for an executable that's not the setup.

This "issue" wasn't really an issue as i discovered. It was simply a conflict with the codec file "l3codeca.acm". If the voices don't work do the following:

Find the file on your computer, create somewhere a BackUp folder and move the file in the backup folder deleting from where it was at first. Then install the .exe file on the cd (i forgot the name, something with Windows media i think don't remember) and voilla. Problem fixed!

Now i didn't noticed any difference between the two files when running other applications but i backed the old file up just in case.

RincewindTheWiz, yes I installed v1.2 patch. This was to no avail.

Fila, What you just describe was a mouth full for me. If possible, can you give me a step by step, explanation on what you are suggestion that I do. Plz, all in layman's term.

In C:\Windows\System you have a file named "l3codeca.acm".
Remove the file from that location and preferably make a back up of the file somewhere, let's say C:\BackUp

Now on the NOFL 1st CD there is a file named "Wmfadist.exe". Run the file and voilla. Problem fixed.

Another good "fix" is to put the sound codecs from the NOLF2 CD right in the NOLF2 directory so you don't have to tinker with the ones in your Sytem Folders. Heres how:

1. Install the game.
2. On CD1 use Winzip to extract the files from "WMFADIST.EXE" to some new folder on your desktop.
3. Take the 3 .ACM files and drop them in your "?:\Program Files\Fox\No One Lives Forever 2" folder. l3codeca.acm is the only one I needed, but you may want to put all 3 just in case.
l3codeca.acm
msaud32.acm
sl_anet.acm

What's really pathetic is that the game's makers didn't think of this even after 2 patches. F'ing DUH!!!

I wonder what kind of beta testers the game had.

Elvin Presler, thanks for the suggestion.

Elvin Presler, thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and still, it did not work. I think sierra dropped the ball on this one, due to a lack of play testing with creative lab prducts. The 1.2 patch did not work either.
