Can't burn PS2 CD's with my LG recorder

I own a LG 12x10x32 CED-8120B recorder. It is supported by CloneCD.

I have tried many times but failed to backup my copy of Tekken Tag Tornament. I am using the USB SBOX mod chip. I have used both CloneCD and CDRWIN to backup my copies. And I am pretty sure that the settings I have used in the programs are right, since I have researched alot on the net about burning CD's and copy protection on CD's. I was trying to burn the CD using the 'image' method.

So after trying all means to burn the game, I decided to try it to burn it on another recorder. So I went to my friends house and burned it successfully THE first time using the HP 9100i recorder. And I even didn't use CloneCD or CDRWIN, I just used the HP program that comes with the recorder. I made a direct CD to CD copy.
Btw, I also tried using CD to CD option on my computer in CloneCD and CDRWIN - didn't work. And then I went to another friends house just to make sure that this successfull attempt was not a fluke. He also has a HP recorder. But again I was successfull.

So I have come to the conclusion that the LG recorder can NOT burn PS2 CD's but HP recorders can. Is anybody else in the same predicament?

Or it is something I am doing wrong? Please somebody HELP. I am really getting frustrated.
Please reply soon as I still have time to get my money back and get the HP recorder.

Contrary to Goldenhawks claims, CDRWin does NOT work with recorder.

Get your money back and swap for a Yamaha 2100 or 2200 or the HP 9100i. No question about it.

Hi,

I have a LG 8080 CD writer in my PC at work and it has burned PS2 backups with no problems using CLONE CD, i reckon you may just have a duff writer, we had a couple that would not work so they sent us out a new batch and they have been fine, had it almost a year now.

I also have a Hp 8200i writer in my pc at home and that has been very reliable the last 20 months of ownership, its compatible with CLONE CD and CDr-Win so i have had great success making PS1 PS2 and DC backups.

Which ever writer u go for just make sure it works with CLONE CD and CDr-Win and your be sorted!!!!

Let us know what u decide

Cheers

First of all I would like to thank everybody for their help, I really apprecaite it.

Second, my LG recorder burns all other types of CD's except PS2. So the recorder is fine I think. And another reason I say that is because I emailed LG and asked them if the recorder supported subchannel writing. They said it does not. That might be the problem after all.

Any comments anybody?

P.S.: Which recorder is better? A recorder with 8MB buffer or one with 2MB buffer and buffer under-run protection? I am thinking of getting the HP 9710i.

hmm u not need subchannel for playstation games
8mb better than 2
yamaha 2100(tried tested)or 2200 is 8mb and reads subchannel

You should ensure that you have subchannel capabilities for digital audio and protection data.

Yes, Yamaha - 2200 with buffer unhder-run elimination.

8MB is better than 2MB because it gives the supply buffer more time to be filled from the disk buffer. The burn-proof technology is interesting because it is supposed to take up where it left off when the under-run occurred.
